Fidone

I liked Krenk but what was a real shame was outside of Jamie Williams the one that had the most promise in that room with speed and hands committed suicide the following year Monte Engebritson and this dude coulda made a huge mark in 83.
You need to fact check yourself

Benning said this more fidone is one of those players that needs to be involved early in the game, I’m speculating that he the type of player that checks out if he’s not getting the ball, it’s not being a spoiled kid it just some kids are that way
No, it usually means they're "I" guys.

Shirley is the aunt by the way. So on a positive note, at least it wasn't mom
It's gotta be tough on the family when it looked like a few years ago, before his knee surgeries, Thomas would play college and then possibly be a high draft pick. Now, he has, at least temporarily, been relegated to 3rd team on a barely .500 team. The ball is in his court, he knows what Dana expects, and if Thomas wants it really bad, he'll get on board in practice and earn playing time.

The days of entitlement are over on the offensive side since Dana took charge.
That's how it has to be.

I think he was not utilized correctly under Satt, but we also bring back Bork and Luke another year. Nelson could also slowly transition over to TE. I could see him leave at years end. Needed to use more in the red zone and across the middle to beat man which we never did.

The tweet from the aunt was worthy of all the ridicule it produced. But Thomas didn’t send it, and it’s an unfair assumption that she speaks for him.

We all see what happens on the field, and we all hear what is said by the coaches. Thomas does too, and he has a challenge to meet. Hope he responds well.

I don't. I hope Rhule doesn't phuk up the new found chemistry on the offense by trying to please the Fidont family and play him more than he deserves. I think Rhule has an element of Snowflake that needs to be thrown away. He could learn a thing or two from Holgorson.

You're calling him a snowflake now? Jheesh.

Agreed.
Fidone has hurt us this season. I think thenother TEs are better and he still lines up wrong. Cost us in the ucla game.

Now if he goes and has a big game vs Iowa Ill of course be pleased.

Has nothing to with that Dana said in his Presser today the Fidone has practiced really good and hard the last two days and expects a good effort in Friday.

I guess I would be surprised… first, I don’t get the sense that DH would agree to that course of action. Second, why would Rhule jeopardize what DH is trying to build?

If Fidone plays, I think it’ll be because DH thinks he should play.

I thought at the PC today, Dana said he had a lot of family in town Saturday, including Aunt Shirley, or did I hear wrong?

Problem for Fidone is you can't learn good blocking habits in a week. With the other two having blocked so well last week, and really needing to have great blocks against Iowa's front 7, do you risk getting an important play blown up with a missed block?

They’re clearly not practicing it at a high-level in practice because they sure aren’t executing it very regularly in games. That’s on MR. How much boot meets ass happens in his practices? Could be what’s missing for us. They talk a big game, apologize profusely with hat in hand, but are inconsistent in the remedy.

You see this all the time in NFL when a new defensive coordinator comes in and gets the most out of the same unit. DHs frankness is refreshing

Or perimeter block
Our wrs were terrible in perimeter blocking but haven't been benched mainly because of lack of depth and development. I could see how family of a single TE, who has been a good receiver would be pissed when the same consequences haven't been applied to WRs. Neyor likely has more negative yards in illegal block penalties than he has helped create with blocks over the entire season.

I never seen NFL TE level play at Nebraska. Not sure about HS because of course I never seen him play. A lot goes into being an NFL level player than just being big fast and strong. A lot of time intangibles matter just as much.

I'm still not sure of his ceiling but Satterfield definitely didn't do him any favors here. Dana obviously ain't coming here to hold anybodies hand. The days of playing because you are good guys and coaches "like" you are over.

From now on you get what you earn...novel concept.

Holla
Some good TE mentions in this thread but another one was Matt Herian pre-mutilating his leg. He was fast, strong, had great hands and could even burn defenses like a WR at times.

The Pierce, NE Flash.

He was decent. Benefitted heavily by our run/pass ratio and him running around wide open to do punt catch duty in case our QB eventually lobbed one in his neighborhood.

Matt Herian was more than “decent.” You might want to check his accolades.

Best tight end Nebraska had in the last 25 years was our walk on back up qb Zach Miller

Very true. That’s why McGuire is gone. You can’t be a selfish throw me the ball receiver without blocking when it’s someone else’s turn. Back to the coaching and locker room mentality
