Favorite Irish movie

The Commitments!

Nearly 35 years later and that movie is still laugh-out-loud funny.

As an aside, not a movie - but my wife has watched "Derry Girls" about a dozen times. It actually is pretty funny at times.

What is classified as an Irish film? “In Bruges” takes place in Bruges, Belgium but the story is centered around 2 Irish hitmen hiding out there.

Waking Ned Devine: Absolutely hilarious.
The Matchmaker: Very funny romantic comedy
The Field starring Richard Harris and Tom Berringer. Dark movie with excellent acting and scenery.

Watching Braveheart right now. It's not exactly Irish, but the Irish play a part.

Gods and Generals is next - to honor the Irish brigade.

The brutal truth is that army recruiters hung out at ship dock. They waited until Irish men fleeing famine arrived. Once they got to the US, the army said "Cool! Now go fight for your country."

In my college years all the way to my early 30s it was Boondock Saints. I'd probably seen that movie over 100 times, it was great. Then after not seeing it for a couple of years, I watched it again and found that it's not a very good movie.

It kinda bummed me out knowing one of my favorite movies kinda sucked.

Movie scenes are from "The Wind that Shakes the Barley".

I've never seen it before, but this video makes it look good.
