The hardest thing that is happening with all these losses is the younger generation is fed up. My younger son said last night he’s just done with this. We haven’t been good for a number of seasons now. We always lose by 3-7 points now. 28 1 pt losses in the last 6 years . Games used to be an event, they are only painful now and no fun. We thought about going to a Iowa game, but not worth it at this point. Nothing is more difficult being a long time Husker fan and having your kids tell you they would rather go for someone else as Nebraska never gets any better. I will always be a Husker..but this program is still a disaster and I don’t see anything on the horizon. Northwestern with all they had happen, promoted DC to Head Coach and look at them? Bowl eligible. 1-11 to bowl eligibility. With a coach who wasn’t even hired to BE a Head Coach. This has to be the most damming stat against Nebraska. Anyway, long rant. But I fear Husker fans are fed up and the support will continue to go down. I feel like Friday’s game is more than a bowl game on the line... 5-7 will destroy any thing Rhule built this season.

I’m more worried about Rhule’s support in the locker room going forward. I have to admit they play much more physical than years prior, but as a player how do you continue to work this hard and not think” why are we not winning?”

Will see about Friday, if they can score twenty points or more then I think they win.

As for bandwagons, I started to see it back in 2005 with people wearing Texas hoodies in HS. At Nebraska I even saw some people wearing Oregon gear.

Disgusts me.

Husker football is not fun anymore.
Had I not witnessed all the Championship years, I would have lost all interest a long time ago.

$500m is not going to change this trajectory.
The product is getting worse, not better. This coupled with a strong disdain amongst our fan base towards paying students to play a game for the university, does not inspire much confidence things will get better.

It’s like going to a casino for 12 Saturdays/Fridays putting $250 in slot machine and expecting to win the jackpot. And then being upset about it afterwards. Meanwhile the casino rakes in large profits.

I’ve been a die hard fan for 2 decades now and always loved to go to games. You couldn’t pay me $100 to go to the Iowa game Friday because I know the script
That’s exactly right. That’s what I’m saying. It’s just all getting lost on the younger generation. Those of us that have been fans for decades have seen the greatness..the younger fans only know losing.

I don’t know if they’ve changed practice the last two weeks
I know Rhule did last week to some degree
Every time I hear “thud up” I cringe with not tackling to the ground in practice
The tackling last night and keeping a limited thrower in the pocket was a big key
SO many missed tackles for loss last night that would have impacted the outcome of the game plus our special teams was a big letdown also
Missed punt block, missed FG, 35 yard avg punt
If the players are honest with themselves and I’m sure they are the plays were there to be made
Wisconsin made them, again, and NU didn’t
I hope the anger fuels them to lock in and lock down Iowa at home Friday

I think the game on Friday will tell us where we are and how much these kids love the coaches. The seniors should play with their hair on fire. This is their last shot to help this program.

What topics should be discussed? Clearly transfer QB and RB. Also keeping the good defense players and coach White from leaving.

I'm not really into speculating on the potential of incoming players anymore. i take a wait and see approach with all new players, but i generally set my expectations low. so far it's been the right move.

i assume all coaches and players are always on the table in the current cfb landscape. why get excited about anyone when coaches and players are moving every year?

Yep. This program's already lost one generation of fans, it's about to lose them all. Didn't have to be this way. Now it'll just be a bunch of old men sitting around at the VFW talking about the good old days.

i wear alot of texas tech gear currently.

I was at a funeral a year ago for a lifelong Husker fan. An old friend who went to U Dub was there. He was a starter in football and basketball at a large high school in the Seattle area. So he knows sports. He's not some nerd who doesn't know what he is talking about. He said to us Husker fans at the funeral, "You Husker fans, I've got to give you credit. You keep filling the stadium and watching the games no matter how bad your team is". I've seen the decline in interest in Husker fans amongst my friends. One of my best friend's, who lives in Lincoln, always welcomes me to stay at his home, but never wants to go to the games. Another friend of mine who like me lives outside Nebraska is a born and bred Nebraskan. His family always had Husker season tickets. He likes sports. I went to the Colorado game this September with him and some other friends. He rarely watches them. He is always telling me how I am wasting my time watching the Huskers. Most of the games this season have been not been fun to watch. It is hard to be a Husker football fan.

not that anyone enjoys hearing about it, but Nebraska fans are baseline Conservative (nothin wrong with that) but also antiquated in refusing to pay for athletes. We just don't have the talent, and we're not gonna be good until we're willing to do what it takes as a program and fanbase to change that fact. The success of a program is now more than ever determined by their FANS.

We've have Mediocre recruiting since basically Callahan. Bo inherited the last truly talented teams we've had, IMHO. Top 25 teams generally have Top 25 recruiting classes. If we had the talent and were losing like this over and over again, I'd be pissed. I'm not. This is what our team Should look like. If we were 8-3 we'd have been playing far above our talent level.

Fandom is a strange part of life. With most all other things we learn to stop doing/being around what hurts/disappoints/provides no value to us. Eventually this does come to be with support of your favorite team. I think we all know people that don’t care much for Husker football anymore. Husker volleyball team is an excellent program to support. The Jayskers in Omaha have watched their men’s Bball team become a top 25 regular since getting in the Big East.

The sparsely filled student section at memorial stadium says everything you need to know about how younger people feel.

There's reason to be hopeful about NIL funds actually getting onto the football field, FWIW. Guess they're litigating something from the Dept to make it happen. BUT IF THEY DON'T... I hope the interest truly dies. Hope they lose their 'sellout streak' and we see empty seats. Not what anyone wants to see, but what program will deserve if they don't pull their heads out of their asses.

we should go after that guy at UCF who took 0-12 to 13-0 in 2 seasons

I'm old enough to remember the beginning of the BobFather era.

When I was a kid we used to take a bus downtown and after kickoff, or maybe halftime, they would open the gates and let us in free. We could always find a place to sit.

Devaney began winning and soon the sellout streak began and then no more free admittance.

I guess what I'm saying is, don't fret too much over some fan apathy. If Rhule, or whoever, begins to build a winner and regains our relevance in college football the fans will come. Everybody loves a winner.

I don't live near enough to go to games but I used to watch every game possible. This year I did not watch 5. They lost most of those. I just cannot justify saying no to certain events/trips to watch losing FB. It doesn't make sense. We have become the Washington Generals who would always start impressively against the Harlem Globetrotters and then...per the script... get beat.

Interest is waning and they have themselves to blame. It’s a business, complete with supply, demand and market values.
