Faking News....Frost Offered?

So does the Husker HC position have to be posted for like 2 weeks or not?

If so, someone needs to be looking for NU classifieds to to find an extremely vague ad that could possibly be the HC position.

Has to be fake news. We all know that Joshua Moore Goodrich was told that Riley would not be fired and that Donte would for sure be here next year!

10 days is what I have heard.

And it was Goodrich that said that, but as said in that thread, a coach isnt going to let recruits know what is going on. If they tank, it looks back for their next employer.

Is the 10 day period for all jobs at the University or just head coaches? I don't think Bankers DC position was posted for 10 days.

And who the heck are Hunter and Hale?

Apparently people trust a random twitter feed more than Sipple or Gary Sharp.

The Millennial version of Beavis and Butthead? Their site reminds me of the old Angelfire sites from the 90's. About as legit as the million dollar bill you get as a gag-gift.

when they tell us what we want to hear, YEAH Laughing

We aren't saying we believe it, just pointing it out.I also have it on not so good authority that there is a press conference in orlando scheduled for 12/3 where Scott will announce his decision. There will be 3 hats on the table. I have heard it is either a hat ceremony, or there will be a bleacher report video posted that day. They werent quite sure which.

So Gary sharps post in this twitter feed of 6 year $36 mil offer means nothing to you?
Are you serious? Holy shnikies. $6M/year for a guy who's been a head coach for 2 years at UCF? Never mind about fan patience. He'll have to win right away at that price. Dantonio makes 4.3M. 1.5M more than James Franklin. .5M more than Tom Herman. etc. That would make Frost one of the top ten paid head coaches in all of football. Too bad Tom wouldn't have paid up like that for Peterson back 10 years ago.....o_O

I believe that same feed said that the reasoning for the offer amount (one upping Franklin) was to "make a statement" to the fanbase.

Yeah but would Peterson carry on his legacy?

This was a good one. Another one I read was that TO himself was/is in Florida and a UF insider believes Nebraska is favored for Frost. And this insider - who never posts - knew ahead of time that McEwlain was being fired.

Let's see, what else...

Something about chancellor's son's friend heard that an offer went out for like 4/$26M, and this was corroborated by other people who totally dont know each other.

Fun times.

Please, go to the Florida site and preach this!! Maybe you could help change their fans way of thinking!

Since you are waiting for something from Sipple or Sharp to believe the admin didn’t screw it up, and Sharp himself reports he’s hearing a big contract to Frost, you should stop the tired posts in every thread that the admin is incompetent... correct?

You actually drive me nuts the way you come up with something and then pollute every damn thread on this board with the same post over and over...

Admin incompetence

What’s next?

Ticket sales revenue alone somewhere around 6-7M/game before license fees. License (booster club) fees maybe 3M/game. Concessions at the game supposedly bring in >3M on game day. Conservatively >10M/game total. Sooo IF they they think they are going to have trouble selling tickets it gets pretty easy to justify that salary. Even so, Scottie's agent is doing some heavy lifting to coax that kind of dough out of NU for a still lightly proven head coach. IF they hire him, I will preach the same thing about him. We HAVE to have patience this time.

Fake news?
Not fake news but more like some twitter fun by Sharp fanning the flames of stupid rumors. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the "silly season" as Sharp calls it. Once the rest of the dominos fall in the SEC, things will get really fun for talk radio and twitter.

Scott's going to get as much patience as the fan base can muster.

Certainly more than a Campbell or Babers.

Well if it was sarcastic then I retract everything I said in this thread... except that swatted tends to repeat himself in every single thread over and over again.

That I stand by.

My wife works at UNL and thinks the athletic Dept can do whatever they want. She says sometimes they post a job internally before going public to give existing employees a chance to transfer. Sometimes they just post publicly. Sometimes they just change the job title and move someone in to it. I'm not sure how a rule is worded if it exists but there seems to be a way around anything

Yeah no way an uproven Power 5 coach would get 6 mill. If Moos was to pay that to him I would be thinking twice about his skill set? Frost is making $2 mill now. I understand we would have to bump that up for sure. I would guess in the range of 3-4 mill

I don't know. 6 million is a lot, but not outrageous considering what other traditional powers are willing to pay to get the coach they want. Going cheap is part of what got us into this mess. If Frost is so "unproven" that we don't deem him worthy of a big contract, then why offer him at all? We can't afford another risky hire can we?
Obviously, the story may not be true. But if it is, then it means Moos and others do not consider Frost to be a bigger risk than anyone else on their list. It means they have identified Frost as "their guy" but they know he is a hot commodity right now and Florida wants him too. So they know that they need to make a substantial offer to get him. I think this shows us that Moos knows exactly what the hell needs to be done.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
6m isnt outrageous at all. Stop being so conservative and spend to win finally. We cant afford another cheap costco HC!

Frost might come to NU for less than FL will offer, but not for a lot less.

Good point, Im going to have to trust that Moos knows more than me:) If he feels 6 mill is what he is worth to get him here. Than I guess that is what he is worth and so be it. That would put him in the top 5 for highest paid ncaa coaches just below Urban Myer.

A Furby is not the greatest toy every created. Nor was a Tickle Me Elmo. However, when its Black Friday, and Grandma needs one for the grandbabies, Grandma does what she otherwise never would do to secure one.

Frost's salary isn't going to be set by his W-L record or his station as a G5 coach with X years experience. If just NU comes a callin' he might make 3 or 4 mill, if a couple heavy hitters are vying...he might get 6 mill or so.

Because if they don't hire him a large percentage of the fanbase will lynch them up.
I don't agree. A lot of people will be disappointed if they don't hire him. Yes. But a lynch mob? Only if instead of Frost they hire another "gotta google this guy" coach. But if they hire a Chip Kelly, or Patterson, or anyone like that who is clearly a good coach, then I doubt there will be lynch mobs.

So I guess too now we have come full circle. We have gone from some on here saying that the fans have little to no pull on the AD's decision, to saying he "has" to hire Frost or the fans will lynch him.

If Moos is capable of being swayed my guess is it isn't fear of a fan-led revolt that is influencing him. More likely it is a group of significant boosters.
