Uh huh. When we need input from yet another re-tread poster who thinks they are cute, we can wait 5 minutes. Enjoy your short time here before they figure you out.

Maryland is better than most people think. Texas also had a losing season last year. In the end, Texas will be fine with Tom Herman. We are in year three with Riley and still seeing similar mistakes as penalties go and how to handle clock management. Time will tell, but Riley is likely not the answer if you're looking for any type of Championship. We haven't even been able to sniff a division title with him.
If we would have beat Wisky in overtime last year I believe we would have won the west.

Phillipe, there are a handful of guys in this board that are ALWAYS monitoring and putting their 2 cents in. The mods can't ban them because they stay just above the line and are 50% of the traffic. You would be better off to just realize people are not always going to agree with you or admit to seeing things your way unless your cool with creating a ton of email addresses, the path I have gone. You tried to make someone who made a passive agressive post stick thier nose out and these boys are to "smart" for that.

But... aren't you a fan of another team like you say you are? You know what's more pathetic than creating account after account to whine and bitch????
Admitting you do it. Good Lord you are one sad individual

Sticks and stones. I am an Iowa fan, born and raised. I did my undergraduate at NWU and Masters at what was then Doane College. I lived in Nebraska from '04 until '15 and have many friends who obviously were 'sker fans. Being a competitive male the banter was thick and fun. Living in Lincoln, I went to the Pitt game (04 or 05ish) the texas game in the snow, the USC, and SDSU (along with Iowa 2 years ago but I wore black and gold for that one,. And obviously tailgated at several others. I learned to respect Nebraska football and I learned to appreciate the passion of the fan base, which admittedly Iowans don't understand. There are 2 things that happen when you live "behind enemy lines" for an extended period of time however. You either adopt the culture or you became VERY ingrained in your own. The last week I lived in Lincoln was the start of football season and I grew and then painted a Giant I in my front lawn "56th and south area" Roberts park. I like staying tuned in with all big 10 teams but especially Nebraska and hope the rivalry continues to be hard fought until even the most elitist husker fan cannot deny black Friday being against a worthly foe. I don't come here to flame I don't come here to troll, though I have in the past but am tired of new emails. I simply love college football and don't take a little trash talk so seriously to not enjoy the banter.

Well, except Bill Snyder is one of the best college football coaches of all time.

Mike Riley is not

So, to even suggest Mike Riley could follow in Bill Snyder's path is ridiculous. Bill Snyder lasted that long for one reason, he is elite. Mike Riley obviously is not.

You know that, thats why you got defensive
Coach Riley won't be able to coach when he's 77? That was the premise of the comparison since Snyder is the oldest active head coach. So many fortune tellers in on this board. It's a wonder all of these folks aren't rich from getting over on Vegas....... maybe they are.

As a follow up some of you husker baseball fans might remember the name Dan Johnson. He is my beother in law and he and I have some of the funniest saltiest husker hawkeye conversations of anyone I know.

1. We hired a 60 year old coach who was likely going to be fired by...Oregon State
2. Said 60 year old coach never won a trophy in his career.
3. Previous 2 recruiting classes before 60 year old coach were poor
4. 60 year old coach would be 64 when his first contract would end.

Who can honestly say they expected to win with Riley? This hire was a cleansing of the negativity and a cheap option while we paid off Bo to leave and wait for our big 10 money to eventually flood in. There is no way that Riley was ever going to be reuped, and will likely either retire or get let go after next season. At that point the program should be full of decent players, and be somewhat cleansed of the mess of the Bo years. We will have fired an unsuccessful coach, instead of one with 9 wins every year, and have the money to hire a major division I guy. And if there is no great coach available we can reup Riley while we wait for the best option. Never in the history of the game did a 60 year old coach rebuild a program like Riley is going to have to do...and I think he has done a good job winning the games he is supposed to win.

You're not going to see many rational, logical responses to your post. This board is full of kool-aid drinking, fragile egos who have yet to accept where our program is.

It was only one game, but my prediction of a 4-8 season is definitely not looking out of the realm of possibilities.

FACT: Texas hired one of the hottest young coaches in the country
FACT: Texas is the flagship university in the most talent-rich state in the country
FACT: Texas is the richest athletic department because of their Longhorn Network deal and alumni support
FACT: Texas just lost to a Maryland team that will finish 12th in the Big Ten this year

What does any of this have to do with our program's current situation? Please explain the parallels you see.

How about the members who liked this illogical post. Can any of you explain how this post makes any sense?

For obvious reasons we don't see eye to eye a whole lot, but it's posts like this that I respect so much more.

You've put yourself out there and have a back story... thanks.

Because, the OP posted stuff as "fact" that isn't any different from what was posted by the one I liked.

It's called making stuff for your narrative, which we all do to some degree, but some are better at it than others.

If we would have beat Wisky in overtime last year I believe we would have won the west.
But we didn't and we got our ass kicked by Iowa. Both teams were better than us. In two years, we have not even been the second best team in a weak division. If we aren't at least the second best team this year it's a failure. Wisconsin should win the division. Next year if Riley can't win the division, he should be fired.

I agree year 4 is no more excuses. I also wonder how our strength training compares to others, in particular Wiscy, Iowa, and Michigan.

Always amazes that you never see certain posters come out of the woodwork unless there is a loss or a bad game. I'll put a hundred bucks on your 4-8 prediction, hell, I'll even give you 5 wins. PM for payment details

Dense much? The comparison wasn't to Snyder the coach... it was to his longevity. The point is, IF Riley turns it around, he could be here another 10-15 years.

Sad that I had to spell it out for you.
Timsum I am 60 and I have to say working at 70 is a scary thought some can do it why? I have no idea maybe. Riley is the exception but I do not see him reupping his contract unless he is on the verge of titles here. The way it looks right now is he has two years left and I am sure his wife has a lot to say about that

I can't argue with you on this... even if he is successful in turning things around and building something here, he could retire in 3 years and be done with it. Absolutely...

At the same time, he could (and I emphasize could) stay on a lot longer if he is successful. Phillipe tried to say the comparison was to coaching ability with Snyder, not longevity, and I tried to help him see the proper understanding of the comparison between the two coaches.
