What makes you think we could compete in the B1G? Texas owned us on the field for our entire time in the Big 12. Iowa State would be chalking up annual wins. And we will find out how well we compete this fall with OU. The conferences are not the problem.

We competed fine in the Big 12. We have not competed well in the B1G.
In the Big 12, we had good recruiting in Texas. In the B1G, we have no natural recruiting ground.
The B1G has been the nail in the coffin for this program, and I would like to see us GTFO of this stupid conference so we can go back to playing our traditional foes, recruiting our traditional areas, and get back to a respectable football program.
The longer we stay in this crap conference, the worse it gets.

People love to post crap like this before a person gets a job, so when they get fired they can come back and say look I told you he was the wrong person! It’s laughable.
Fans cheering for Ed need to realize that some of his employment history is problematic. That's all. I don't know the man but I know that he has had some issues that should disqualify him from being the AD at NU. IF IF IF he were such a great candidate we would have hired him instead of bringing in an outsider like Moos. I don't think he would get Osborne's endorsement either.
I’m not going to disagree with you but he would still be better choice than Matt Davidson.. And you can say the same about Trev Alberts if he wanted this job he could have had it after Howdy Dowdy..

I know the other thread was blocked because of stuff, but I will contend that race will have an impact on the decision. Sometime in 2020, the student athletes were asking for more people that looked like them to be hired in significant roles in the Athletic Dept, I cannot find the link to the article right now, but I am not sure there has been many, if any, minorities hired since that time. I am not saying there was necessarily a date or deadline for that to happen, but if Stewart were to be hired, that could very well be some of the motivation behind it.

Ed is more than qualified and happens to be Black. I would focus more on the former instead of the latter.
If people want to choose to focus on his race, then there are many positives having people in positions of power on campus as we attempt to resurrect programs like football and basketball that disproportionately recruits Black student athletes.
Every man in his late 40’s has made bad choices at some point in his life. The only question is how Public they are
Almost all of the top football and basketball programs have white head coaches and athletic directors. In the end, the only color top recruits care about is green....they just want to play for winning coaches who have a track record of developing players into NFL/NBA players.
If Ed is the best candidate who will take the job in the end, great...but I'd like us to actually conduct a nation-wide search and interview as many qualified candidates as possible, and then hire the one with the best track record. Only focusing on one candidate hasn't worked out very well for our athletic department over the last couple decades.

It’s clearly fukked up and racist. Reverse the races and the Mizzou employment would’ve ended 24 hours later.
He wasn't in his 20s when that incident happened. It's not a good look and it will hang over his head if he's hired by NU. The NU AD job is a much more public position that endures an immense amount of public scrutiny unlike the job he held with the Big12.
