Ed Stewart's wife jailhouse tapes with Missouri player does not sound good.....

Ed Stewart would have to explain his way out of this situation involving his wife if he wants the Husker AD position. Sounds like Huskers should interview Stewart's wife too to see what we would be getting with her. Needless to say this whole situation at Missouri does not make Stewart out to be someone we would want for our AD position. Don't kill the messenger I just googled Ed Stewart to read more about him and alot of articles are about the situation. Link below.

Who said anything about "shocking"? But there is no reason a player locked up in jail for assault should be calling Ed Stewart who was asst athletic director at the time. There is much more to the story and does not put Ed Stewart in a good light.

A Black chick called me a cracker one day for the sin of refusing to give her a cigarette (I had one left which I told her), I could not stop laughing. I asked her "is that ALL you got"?

Most of the time, especially in instances like this, people aren't honest on a message board about their true beliefs, or are just being contrary for the sake of being contrary.

If Ed Stewart was Warde Manuel (African American AD at UConn) and he and Mrs Manuel were believed to be saying these things, they would have been blasted universally on this board. But Stewart has Nebraska ties, so we try to sugarcoat and excuse the racist remarks and blatant stupidity of saying things like this.

If everyone became disqualified for any job because of a racist remark then not a single human in the United States would be employed.

I will be very disappointed if we hire Ed Stewart. He is probably a very good man, but it appears he has had some bad lapses in judgement which IMO disqualify him from consideration for our job.

so disappointing - I fully expected to read about her hooking up with some inmates - one of which was a Missouri athlete - and the entire escapade being videotaped

Well his tenure with a previous employer kind of looked like that. IF they want turmoil at NU and nothing much geting done, they will hire Ed. :(

Then we had two people running for the oval office that were disqualified. Yet they were both standing that night to hear the results.

Not my point... you said no one is employable. I responded by saying the dumb ones who are caught with their racist remarks are the ones not employable.

Politics is a whole ‘nother beast. Apples and oranges. If Marion Berry can get re-elected you know politics doesn’t care.

It's not something he said. It's something his wife said. He shouldn't be disqualified for something his wife did, but he does need to keep a better eye on her.

I don't care if the next AD has Nebraska ties or not. I don't care how much experience the guy has. I want someone who has the vision to make our athletic programs succeed, the most important being football, and give the coaches the resources they need to be successful.

Something to think about...

From an article, "Stewart is executive associate commissioner of the Big 12 Conference and has been with the conference for 14 years"

Maybe he can navigate Nebraska's return the Big 12 someday?

To me, that is one of the best things that could help bring back football success to Lincoln.

I call shenanigans! I Googled "Ed Stewart" and found zero articles, let alone "alot" (as the OP claims) regarding this "scandal". I even Googled "Ed Stewart controversy" and after 4 pages of links, one came up that was about the wife of the Missouri president.

Go ahead, Google it for yourself to see who is telling the truth.

I find it very hard to believe that Ed Stewart would be the next AD at Nebraska. There were other incidents in another job setting that should disqualify him regardless of what you can find now on the internet. He's never been an AD. He's just a name people know and he's a former Husker. I guess we've forgiven The Jet for his felonies so there is that.
