Dylan Raiola

Some thought he was overrated and some thought it was poor coaching. What is the board opinion now?
Coaching that put him in situations that made him lose his confidence.

From the little I had seen of routes players seem to be running more crisp also.

With a young guy you don’t want to overload him so much that you tear him down. Just let him play and make it simple.

Poor coaching and line problems. Same I've said before.

The young man looked good tonight. Congratulations to him and the team on a good performance!
The short passing game is highly effective. I can’t explain why it’s much improved but it is. Maybe it’s the timing of those plays

More than I would have expected.
I am speculating he is very good at personal motivation with big boys. He may take Benhart aside and say, "you have got to get to this spot for this play to work." He probably makes it a personal mission for some of those kids to take ownership of certain type plays.

You can motivate the shit out of kids when you're not just blowing smoke up their ass.

You could be right. I'm sure we will hear more. To be honest I don't really care what he had to do so long as shit is working.

He could come out dressed like Harry Potter and offer free magic classes... As long as we see improvement I will defend it as a legitimate coaching tactic.

Everybody watched all three of our qbs get worse the longer they played under Satt last year...one became basically unplayable, one was regressing until he got hurt, and the other ended his career leading a potentially game winning drive by throwing it directly to a linebacker. Raiola got worse every week until he was lead by somebody who is worth trusting and who has lead some of the greatest offenses in college football history. It still blows my mind that Rhule thought Satt would work. For some reason people are surprised that coaches with a history of being bad are bad, and coaches with a history of being good are good. Of course some of them like DH have personal demons like we all have, and burn out...glad to see him healthy and having success.

No, see, the Harry Potter shit, the single digit shit doesn't work, the Chasing 3 shit doesn't work.

It doesn't take kids long to figure out when a coach doesn't know what the hell he's doing. It also doesn't long to figure out when someone really knows what they're talking about.

When a coach is giving horseshit instructions, kids "fake" buy into it. When you prove to them in practice this concept actually works, kids suddenly get dialed in.

am i happy with the defense, no....but when it was 7-7 game...Neb had a 27-3 run that made it 34-10....the defense did their job...limited them to FG's which they missed....had some good stops and gave it back to the offense so they could keep the rhythm going and extend the lead...if Wisconsin was scoring, i doubt the offense would have had such a good run....Good to see the momentum the Defense provided transferred over to the Offense...wisconsin scored their 1st TD with almost 9 minutes left in the 1st quarter...they got their 2nd TD with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter....

The last part was a joke. I thought it was evident, apparently not.

The o line sucked most of the year. You can certainly argue why but it's a fact.
I disagree. Play calling was horrendous and Dylan wasn’t letting it fly after the Indiana game. The O line has continued to improve. You can’t expect them to protect for 4 seconds or more. Some of the ask for our O linemen in some of Satt’s run plays were not executable by mortals.

Better job of throwing on rhythm and with velocity
Getting the ball out quicker helps his O line immensely. He had some checkdowns that ere going for 3-8 yards. That’s a bid deal versus the no gain or loss check downs we were getting with Satt

I'm not talking about protecting long plays they were straight up missing blocks much of the season.

OC change has also had a big positive effect on the OL.
The OL has been playing very well the last few weeks. So much so that Uncle Donnie has proven worthy of another year as far as I'm concerned. Making changes at RB, WR, and TE staff should be the priority, along with retaining DH of course.

Coaching and play calling WAS horseshite. He’ll grow under fan fave Dana H.

If he aspires, he’ll learn to move and work in a dirty pocket, Badgers pass rush was not good. That was very helpful to him today. Now lets teabag those Fighting Clarkeyes!

Again. Some of the blocking design by Satt were not logical. Gottula, Jenkins and Lutovsky have made steady progress. Gottula and Jenkins opened some huge holes today.
Fair enough and you may be right. End result is the line wasn't defending our qb though.

Their pass rush wasn’t good because our O line’s pass pro is pretty damned good. It sure helps when you get the run game going as well. Wisconsin’s D made life very difficult for Gabriel and the Ducks.

I
Right now I’m more worried about our defense.

I already discounted those and I was specifically speaking to the missed blocks that got DR drilled in multiple occasions.

I understand what you are referring to though.
Yeah, the OL wasn't good at all in the first half of the season. Dinglefritz is the master at rewriting and twisting history. If you're around long enough, you catch on to it instantly.

I see that, but imo some of that would be the success running the ball. You can’t blitz as much and overload the oline when you are having success running at them.

There were games where between the rbs and a slow qb there was no threat to run, so it’s easy to tee off.

You aren't wrong.

I still think there was more to it than that. I'm really too lazy to pull out reels and honestly I'm not sure how to do it on this site.

If it's fixed it's not worth rehashing but I think a competent OC giving proper direction to position coaches is paying dividends. Remember he's using the existing playbook so the plays themselves haven't changed.
