I say resoundingly yes. (Sorry JerryTagge)

Don't talk to me about championships; look what Tommy has had to deal with during his tenure, and then look at the production he has posted. Look at the coaches he has had, and the talent surrounding him.

If he isn't on the mount Rushmore, he's certainly an alternate

That might be a tall mountain to climb at this point, but I will mention that we do have a Sr. right now who probably does belong on the Mt. Rushmore of receivers. And people should just take some time this year to acknowledge and enjoy watching one of the greatest to ever play the position here before he's gone. I find we tend to not fully appreciate some of these guys until after they've graduated.

I hate to say it but Tommy is playing very well right now. It's gotta be frustrating for a defense to give up so many third down plays to that guy. Then at the same time, he was a LB from catching the ball away from a pick six.

If he stays this hot, Nebraska probably wins the West.

Win some hardware, then, yes T.A. belongs. Westy is special. He'll be playing on Sunday's.

Tommy is playing great, and the staff is putting him in the best position to be successful. There are a couple of times every game that make me very nervous, but for the most part, they are doing a great job of minimizing turnovers and bad decisions and allowing Tommy to just be himself. I think the staff deserves a lot of credit here for how they have managed to approach this in year 2.

The problem with 'Mt. Rushmore's' is there are only four spots.

The no-brainers that are in -
Frazier
Crouch
Gill

That leaves one spot for a lot of deserving candidates. I just don't think Armstrong is in that discussion yet. That isn't a knock on TA, there are just a heck of a lot of great past players at QB.

Conversely, Westerkamp, who is in the discussion for 'Mt. Rushmore of WRs' at Nebraska (let's face it, he is on it already), has a much easier hill to climb than Armstrong. Not taking anything away from Westerkamp, but the list of top level WRs at Nebraska is skinny. Especially if you call Johnny the Jet a RB and not a WR.

I quess Mt Rushmore needs another head.:) Hard to argue with Frazier, Gill, Crouch and Tagge.

Tell you one thing if Gdowski would have played 3 or all 4 years like Armstrong and Martintz he would have been one of our top 5QB.

Dr. Tom, Devaney, Tagge, Frazier. then flip a coin between the 3 heismen winners for the 5th spot.

Tommy's playing HUGE right now. In past years the two turnovers would have doomed this team. But not this year. Tommy has come to play! The throws in the back of the endzone were incredibly smart decision making on his part.

We will have a sure fire answer after Wisky and Ohio state as to his place on the Totem pole.

It's not about being hot. It's about being smart with the ball.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!! Gdowski was great. Tom Osborne said as much. I remember T.O. saying that Gdowski was one of the best QB's at NU that Tom had seen since all the years he coached at NU at that time. Great player for us. Had Nebraska been on TV more that season (1989) Gdowski would have been a Heisman candidate.

Tommy Turnover has dialed it back this year, but we have to keep in mind that he has yet to face an elite level defense. The coaches have done a great job of figuring out where best to use his skill set in their offensive approach and it has been working. The roller coaster ride that has been his play has been a bit more steady. I will be very curious to see how he plays against Wisconsin's defense, which may be the best on the schedule.

Discussions such as these can't be done without having a complete historical perspective of NU football. We're going to drop Jerry Tagge off the list? Why? Because most of us never saw him play? No mention of George Sauer? He was an All American, two time Big Six champion and was inducted into the college football hall of fame before any of us were born. Where does John Bender stand among our all time running backs? He played from 1900-1904 and was probably the best half-back West of the Mississippi in those years. He also played on our Undefeated/unscored upon team of 1902. Maybe we need a few more mountains in Nebraska to carve up "Best by era"?

Tommy was playing Northwestern. Wisky and OSU won't be so forgiving. Go 1-1 against those two, and look good doing it, then maybe you can have that discussion. He could do it, he could even go 2-0, he shows plenty of flashes at times and anything can happen (NDSU vs. Iowa ring a bell?) but as of right now this very typing, no.

If we win, there isn't anything sad about it.

Sadly there are fans out there who are more concerned with the way we win games more than the actual result. Hence, the run-the-ball morons that proliferated in the last year. Ask Alabama fan if he cares how many passes or runs that Lane Kiffin called that week, and he doesn't give a damn who did what, except for the final score...and that is the premiere program in the country right now. Also, the QB run game is a major risk/reward style. Last year we didn't have anything behind Armstrong, at least now we have something behind him that we can rely on if that happened.

HELL NO! I would NEVER support putting a monument to Nebraska football in South Dakota! No way no how!

If there are going to be four faces on the QB Mount, then no. Crouch, Frazier, Gill, Tagge.

What would he have looked like if he had had one additional year under MR & DL. Amazes me what competent coaching has done for him!

I keep watching Tommy and wishing we could put him in a time machine and take him back to run Osborne's offense. I think he'd be an awesome option QB.

Would have been nice....with Tommy's arm, you have to defend the entire field.

He's buying into what our excellent OC is telling him this year.

2nd favorite player all time behind Frazier for me....right in front of Steve Taylor.

I think our "excellent" OC is also controlling his tendencies to make horrific turnovers by changing the play calling this year which is obvious when you look at last season. He has had a couple of close calls but Langsdorf is limiting those mistake opportunities. I haven't seen too many scrambles to the left, throw off the back foot into a strong wind interceptions this year. Winking

With that being said, I am enjoying watching him improve and have a successful senior season at this point...he deserves it.

No. Tagge, Gill, Frazier and Crouch are all pretty solid picks.

TA4 has played well this year, but we have a lot of football to still be played out. He has had two pick-6's dropped so far. Let's see how this season plays out against better defenses, etc.

This. I love TA, but this is all a little premature. Let's revisit this after the season is over.

Well of course this is premature, but we're a football message board so this is what we do, right?

Full disclosure I was drunk when I opened this topic. Upon reflection we'd probably need a bigger Mt. Rushmore to get him on. Can't forget Frost.
