Does Frost even leave?

If I'm Scott Frost, my brains tell me stay at UCF, my heart tells me go to NU, and my balls say go to UF. He can be rich and adored at UCF. Richer and reviled at UF when he can't beat Bama and UGA.

Then with NU...he either finishes the native son comes home narrative in the best way possible or goes back to hating the fans and feeling betrayed by his home state if he can't win.

Personally, I don't think Frost wants anything to do with the administration at Florida right now. You have Spurrier walking into coaches' meetings telling them what plays to run. You have the old AD Foley still hanging around telling people what to do. They can't build new practice facilities because there isn't any vacant land by the stadium.

I get that Florida is in a much more fertile recruiting area, but with that comes the demands that you win championships immediately, even though every other school in the SEC also recruits well and has better facilities. Keep in mind that both McElwain and Urban Meyer wanted to leave that place at the first sign of adversity.

He went to Stanford, he's not stupid. Now is the time to cash in Big. He's going somewhere.

Sooo IF you could make the same money recruit from your car without all the stress of the NU job, what would you do? Rumor has it that some UCF alums have opened their checkbooks to keep him there......:(

If Frost wanted to stay at UCF long-term, he would have come out and said he has no interest in the Florida or Nebraska jobs, to put that speculation to bed. But instead he said "there will be a time to think about" the job speculation stuff later. That doesn't sound like someone with no plans of leaving.

The news stories about UCF Alums opening their checkbooks to keep him were recent and AFTER that Frost quote. I think he probably leaves too BUT I'm not sure I would IF I were him.

All the UCF alums in the world can't make UCF relevant on the highest stage of college football. They're undefeated and dominating, yet still 18th in the playoff rankings. They're never going to be in a major conference.

Some coaches might be content coaching in a second-tier league, but I don't think Frost is one of them. He's way too competitive IMO. It's more about that than the money for him. He wants to coach against the best in the game. He saw UCF as a place he could win quickly in order to move up in his career.

LOTS of coaches would be content with a multimillion dollar contract and a fan base and administration who love him and little or no pressure. Job security. Quality of family life. Home every night if you want. Sign me up over flying coast to coast trying to sell 18 year olds on Nebraska. You may be right but things change when you start a family. At least they did for me.

Bingo. The people of that area clearly couldn't give a rat's ass about that team. That also means that outside of a few diehard fans, very few people in that area give a rat's ass about Frost either.

Nonsense. 15k+ at gametime, UCF football following will improve, if they keep winning, which they will.

What is your definition of relevance?

How about school in warm climate with scantily clad women, cool head coach, Disneyland, beaches, winning???

Is that cooler than Lincoln, Nebraska and this clownshow?

Look, I am not saying one or the other but things change...

I don’t think that is true. Coaches are competitive and want to win at the highest levels. It is very rare for a guy to stay at a lower level school like UCF. People said Peterson would never leave Boise, for example. There are people drawn to safety and ease, college football coaches are not. Frost has won at the highest levels as a player and a coach, I seriously doubt he is content playing in front of 20K fans in the American Confernece, with no chance to ever win a title.

Then why hasn’t it? I get it, you love living in Florida, but UCF is simply not a good job

Florida sucks from July thru October.

I work down here. My job is here. I have no choice but to live here.

UCF is not a good job until it is a good job. Frost can sit there and get to $4mil a year, win 9-12 a year, no pressure whatsoever.

What the hell is wrong with that?

I agree that some coaches might be content with that. I don't believe Scott Frost is one of them. He's played and coached in a National Championship game. Once you get a taste of that, you're not content just competing to win some no-name conference in front of 30k fans. Nobody dreams of that as a coach. By nature, most coaches don't want to be "content". They tend to be ultra-competitive individuals who want to be the best of the best.

How many coaches who've succeeded at a non-Power5 conference school, have ended up staying at that school long-term? I honestly think of any. People said Tom Herman would, but he only lasted 3 years at Houston. Even Chris Petersen and Paul Johnson eventually took bigger jobs.

For all of the people who think Orlando is so much better than Lincoln to live in...i have lived in both. I HATED Orlando. Hated it. I would choose Lincoln 10 times out of 10.

Now he could probably live in a very ritzy area...but still. Not a good city overall...

Orlando sucks. Maybe Scott has no taste???

Those driven by history books can't believe the amount of $$$ people make in their profession nowadays
He can have it all in Lincoln. Money, opportunity, glory. Not too mention free babysitting, of which is more valuable than any perk in FloHurrida.

Bingo. He's leaving UCF. Lincoln, Knoxville, Gainesville, Corvallis -- he gone.

Yea, when I am making my next career decision with tens of millions and the health/welfare of my family on the line, babysitting is at the top of the list...

Many people do consider that as a perk. You either have no kids, don't love them or don't love your your parents. It is a travesty to seperate grandkids from their grandpatents.

He can make his millions anywhere, why not close to home.

Dude, the guy has been living outside Nebraska his entire life outside his upbringing and stint as player at UNL.

Why would he now decide to move to Nebraska, because his kids have to go to Grandpa's on the weekend? Versus their financial and physical well being, from parents deciding what is in their own best interests, as opposed to a child who depends on said parent?

You, like many here, are delusional

If he goes to Nebraska and we continue to suck, he has failed himself, and his family.

You put yourself in the best possible position to succeed.

Period.

Sorry your family life sucked and those scantily clad women remind you of your mommy.

What is the best possible situation for him to succeed?

These are coaches we're talking about here, not the typical "I put in my 8 hours" types. A promotion in the workplace for these guys is to move on to bigger and better things, the just so happen to come with greater risk. It is a goal to get to a big football program and win.

Hope he does pick Nebraska, if he goes Power 5.

Also, and think about this for a second...

Why not Scott Frost engraved in stone at UCF?

May as well carve that in to some stone in the middle of the Gobi Desert. Some places are Mecca to these guys, others aren't. I'm sorry but the only stone at UCF is stepping stone.

Not to sound like an ass, I just don't see him staying.
