I've heard that some are picking us to lose?
I just don't see it.

Considering how thin we are going into this game at DL and LB, I'm not taking anything for granted.

I cant imagine anyone would be shocked if we lose. If so, you havent been paying attention.

Better get to Lunt or he will rack up some yards. One of the best arms in college football. His receivers aren't anything special but neither is the Nebraska secondary.

With our pass D and Lunts skill...even with no talent around him...I could see it...I think itll be closer than we would like.

No, but I see a few matchup problems for us:

1. Lunt / Allison combo vs. our secondary
2. Ferguson out of the backfield. Although Illinois has been craptastic, I really like that kid. Good back that would be a big time stud at a better school.

A few reasons to breathe easier:

Dudek is out, Lunt is not mobile, and their D sucks with their secondary being a problem. Tommy might get 400 and change this weekend.

If Illinois throws the ball 80% of the time, they will have a shot. Our d-line will wear down and without significant pressure, our woeful DBs are doomed,

I didn't see us losing to BYU, and we all know what happened there, so I'm concerned about this game, but I do look at is one of the more favorable games on the remaining schedule.

Cubit is a offensive minded coach, and may have nothing to lose from cutting loose on offense. Illinois is facing the worst pass defense they have seen up to now, and it's a home game for the Illini.

I still have to go with a win for the Huskers, but I won't be shocked if we lose.

as soon as there's a market where hundreds of thousands of dollars are risked that price you as a 30% fav to go to the moon tomorrow, I'm going to discount those odds compared to the odds of Nebraska losing.

I just have a hunch we will see improvement from the secondary this week. I think we win easily and feel a little better about the pass defense, but they will score some points but I think we'll create some turnovers. Tommy should have a good game.
Well, I did feel that way....but they have to wear those awful white pants....ugh.

Here is how I see the defense going. May not happen anytime soon, but when it does it could be special. Again this may never happen, just wishful thinking. When the defense gets some starters back then maybe some continuity can gel. We maybe see more unique blitzing packages, which could lead to turnovers and changes of field position. But until then I'll buckle up my seat and ride this roller coaster.

I have a hunch that your hunch is wishful thinking. To get turnovers from our DBs, they would likely have to be within 5 yards of the receivers when the ball arrives.

Unc had an AWFULLLLL D last year and they hired a good d coordinator and fixed it immediately. Dominated illinois.

I wish we cold fix our secondary that fast
I've been told I'm crazy because I can't accept that head coaches bring in their own defensive coordinators, and that I'm crazy because I think Banker sucks.

Supposed to be 45 mph gusts tomorrow. If we can run the ball and complete the easy passes, we win

This. Could we lose tomorrow? Yes. Am I at least a little nervous? Yep. However, living not far from Urbana myself and knowing how our weather was today (and it's supposed to be windier tomorrow), I'm less worried about our pass defense being picked on.

This! If a team can throw the ball, they have a fighting chance, cuz our pass D is the worst. If we lose to Illinois, it's going to be a long, dismal year.

My God guys, theres suppose to big wind gusts tomorrow, anyone who knows football knows threwing deep balls wont be on the money as well with wind like that. They will have to run the ball or threw short passes. I think we will do fine against the short ball and will stop there run
And there defense isnt very good either and we are very good with the short pass and should be able to run on them. With us having a balanced offense and Tommy tearing this defense up with his legs and arm, i say we smash these guys.

Huskers 42
Illinois 17

45 mph winds may give our secondary a much needed boost. will be interesting to see if any changes/open recievers whether they're completions or not. don't believe the running game of the illini will be that big of a threat. Nebraska wins but we may be wondering after this one.
