I like you folks over here. There are a lot of dreamers, miscreants, and rational thinkers.

Anyway, I didn't see any mention of Andrew Bunch, the new walk on QB. He's a former HS 3 Star QB who was lightly recruited out of high school. He had about a dozen offers from FCS and smaller FBS level programs. He went to Scottsdale CC out of college before coming to Nebraska this Spring. His father was a former walk on for Nebraska in the late 80s.

Bunch is a true dual threat, and will be a nice emergency option going forward. He's considerably more athletic than a guy like Fyfe. Bunch is more talented than most walk on QBs.

Yes this was commented on in a thread when it was first announced he was coming to Lincoln. However, it was not discussed extensively.

This adds needed depth and will help us preserve Gebbia's redshirt and allow Zac to focus on wide receiver.

And we love you too Cornicator. lol
I would join the pay board but my wife forbids it. She says I already waste way too much time on here. She claims that if I am paying for the site I will be on it even more.

She must be insane.

I just posted about him in another thread. Pretty impressive to land a kid like this as a walk-on.

I like him for depth, I would like him to throw off of his back foot less, but he seems accurate already.

That's why he's Power 5 walk on and not on scholarship. And once you get down to the 3rd or 4th team guy, your chances are limited anyway. I like the fact he's a dual threat guy who can run around and extend plays. You might as well give opponents different looks in emergency situations. You're already going to be at a disadvantage.

Well, with him, it looks like its repairable. It's not prominent like Armstrong or Martinez. If any or all of these guys can make multiple, not pre conceived reads, there's improvement.

my personal feeling is that he will legitimately compete for the backup job next year with Gebbia redshirting

Whoa whoa that's premium content. These peasants don't deserve such tasty morsels. *spits on ground*

So which of POB or Lee will he beat?

From the sounds of it, Lee and maybe Darlington on a few packages will do most of the playing :)

I have to think that POB will get any mop up snaps after that, if only for developmental purposes. I think its highly unlikely that Bunch is "the future" or anything approaching that. Unless Bunch is just a phenom, I'm not sure how he breaks out of the emergency walk-on role.

I believe POB still has quite a ways to go to be a legit D1 QB with some wondering if he will ever get there.

Serious question, do folks have inside information on this? There are a number of others on here who think POB will seriously challenge Lee to start.

It would appear to me that folks are just looking through sheep entrails and posting results on the free board, unless folks have reasons for their feeling.

hopefully POB makes a huge leap after the redshirt .. but redshirt aside there was a grand canyon of a gap between Fife and POB

I guess my own thought on your report is that....

if the gap is really indeed that huge, then this talk of Riley and staff not wanting to bring in another top option at QB (as a JUCO or grad transfer) because it basically signals lack of faith in POB and might cause him to transfer, is misplaced.

Because if POB is that bad, then he's not going to do Riley any favors when he sees the field. And Riley wouldn't be losing much if POB threw a fit and left because he brought in a QB that might continue his employment here.

Last Langsdorf quote I remember seeing was that POB and Lee were currently battling for the starting spot. Waiting for some clear separation to determine starting role.

Yah, the last report seemed to be fairly balanced in terms of the separation.

Hard to see Langs and the team excited by a guy in POB who we are hearing here has a long ways to go to get to Fyfe level, but who is roughly equivalent/pushing a guy who is expected to start (Lee) per Langs.

Billy Devaney says they'll battle through spring for the starting spot and it's a toss up right now. From all accounts we've heard though, it sounds like Lee is a serious gun slinger, and would seem to be the front runner

EDIT: just to clarify, they're both better than Fyfe.

The reports of POB status range from potential bust to challenging for the starting spot. Hopefully both cant' be true. That would be a little Cody Greenish the year Zac Lee started and played with an injury. Spring ball should be illuminating.

Name calling is not allowed. I'm offended by being called a "free boarder." Mods, please address this. Thanks.

This was announced a few weeks ago..

I think a walk on qb is a necessity.

i like how hudl keeps putting the circle around the QB. yeah, we get it, he's the guy throwing the ball.

TWO walk on QBs would be nice to have in camp. I would love to see a small school kid with a good arm and quick feet walk on for depth. You never know what some of those 17 year old kids will grow in to. Do we still have the walk on tryouts?
