So when Dannen complains to the B1G about the reffing in NU games, what happens?

Would the ref governing body say, "Hey guys, you've been shafting NU pretty hard on game-changing plays. Let's just look the other way when they do something wrong so we can balance the books and keep Dannen from bitching.....

Or do they say, "Fvck Dannen and those NU whiners. Keep flagging their azzes til they join the MAC."

Or do they take Dannen's emails and use them for butt wipes in the commission shitter?

Serious question, if the ref governing body agrees that a school has been the victim of an inordinate amount of game-changing bad calls, what could they possibly do to change that?

Nothing ever happens except the coaches get a phone call and say sorry the refs missed that or called that incorrectly. That’s the problem around CFB .

The B1G has plenty of money and can afford to pay enough to get quality refs. These guys all have regular jobs, too, if I understand correctly. You get what you pay for.
I don’t know how you change the quality of officiating I mean it’s this way in all of college football it’s not like there is a pile of great refs that you could recruit with big pay checks.

There have been some bad calls no doubt. They’ve probably missed calls for the other team as well. These guys are human. Just like the best NFL players (and refs) mistakes get made. We only watch our own games…it happens every weekend across the country. There’s no B1G conspiracy against DONU.

Not saying there's a conspiracy. It's more of a pointless, rhetorical question......

So Dannen complains to the B1G reffing governing body about called against NU that are (1) bad calls (everyone gets those called against them) and (2) at the worst possible times (OSU, USC), what actually happens? I don't believe for a second that it does any good to complain. Dannen is not going to make anyone in the B1G ref office stroke their chin and say, "Ya know, he's got a point. NU HAS gotten hosed on calls/non-calls at CRUCIAL points in the game. Let's listen to Dannen and somehow make it up."

Nothing happens, it's a dick-beating solution set. So why do it in the first place? I think its so fans can say, "Yah, you tell 'em!"

Really, it's an exercise in futility and fan-appeasement, nothing more.

Very true. Once Dannen came in, the renovation went on hold for a while and once it came back, it was a shell of the initial design.
I beg to differ. I'm thinking they're even looking bigger. If you're going to do it do it right. Which in my opinion, they're going to be looking at west south and east.

Now whether it's feasible I don't know but my gut says that's what this is about.

We went what? 6 or 7 games in Big Ten play without our opponent once being called for holding and until it was actually pointed out in the press we finally got one called. Seems obvious to me, Nebraska is almost never on the favorable end of refereeing.

Think it was more like 2-3 years

Maybe more

You're wrong that there isn't something going on. Calling it a conspiracy might be a stretch, but there is at least an implicit interest in "keeping Nebraska in its place". People that say "just win" are missing the point, it's practically impossible to get a fair, coin-flip shake on this highly competitive game when the refs can pull out the flag at any moment, destroying the chance of accomplishing anything on the field. And the stuff absolutely does not happen in other games in the volume it happens to Nebraska.

I thought it was more games than that 🤔

I wish I could confirm what you said. As someone close to those involved with the design, it’s not more, unless he’s going to reveal a later phase down the road.

I’m guessing you don’t watch other B1G games with the same intensity/interest that you watch Husker games. I certainly don’t. I just don’t see who it benefits for the conference to have it in for one of its own. You think Ohio State or Michigan is pulling the head of officials aside and saying, “Hey, we can’t have Nebraska being too good. No sirreee.” And if that truly is the case, we made a HUGE mistake ever leaving the B12.

I don’t suspect it’s the individual schools saying anything, rather it’s a directive from the commissioner in order to keep the original big ten schools pleased. Jim Delaney stuck it to us with the scheduling, playing Ohio State like 8 out of 10 years and also Michigan often. No one in the west played them as much as we did.

You have to be a complete dipshit to believe this conference hasn't stuck it to us at every opportunity for 15 years now.
Then we have to be complete dipshits for sticking around. The B12 would likely have been just fine had Nebraska not defected and worked to bring others in (OU and Texas may have stayed). It would have been one of the top power conferences with plenty of $$$. If you believe the B1G is out to keep us down, we made our own bed and now we lie in it.

Not really. The problem is that anytime a program loses, it's always about the refs or the conference out to get them. It's the same with every losing program. It can't be about a lousy-shitty football team

That no call at the end of the USC game probably doesn't change the outcome, but it still pisses me off that something that blatant does not get called. For once I'd like to win a game by beating the living shit out of the opponent and take it out of the refs hands.
The problem when rewatching the game is that it was happening the entire game. Nobody could get open because they were pulling our jerseys every down. Most of the time with a ref within 5/10 yards.
