Coverage of Trae Taylor's commitment to Nebraska

I mean I get what you are trying to say. But every team has to start somewhere. And right now we are where no other team is with his commitment

Yeah, it could mean nothing, but as of right it’s 1st step towards the ultimate goal. Him starting and winning games for NU. Like many have said, I don’t get too excited about commitments anymore, but it’s still a necessary step in the right direction.

So funny that people will lose their minds if in a couple of weeks when CJ Bronaugh decommits and ends up in the SEC, and will blame everything from 1890 to Rhule to location to new DC, and will say I knew he wouldn't stay. But when a potentially elite player commits, its is meh.

At what point will the catastrophizing stop?

When you don’t have to continue to recruit players even when they are already on the team?

No question. That’s why you take any commitment with a grain of salt. These kids are on a one year basis.
As long as we get him here, even if only for a year, it creates competition. If he isn’t good enough and leaves, so be it. He will have pushed our starter to be better. This is how college football works now. Glad to see we are doing this rather than bringing in someone who will stay 3-4 years but not push the starters and make them better.

My son will not be allowed to leave because he doesn’t win a job. Keep your butt there work harder go take the job. I’ll say this, Trae is committed to Nebraska already told all the schools he will not be going to any campus but Nebraska. Only way Trae leaves is if this staff leaves

Every time a commitment happens you wonder these days what the odds are that the player will be here for his senior year.

With Dylan, TJ, Dayton, and Trae, hopefully we are about to embark on a several year stretch of high quality QB play. Dylan could easily be a round 1 pick, maybe even top overall. That would really help recruiting.

But it needs to come together in 2025. If the offense is much improved with Dylan as a sophomore, Dana as OC, and better WR room, then we can build some real momentum in recruiting and perception. Awaken the sleeping giant.

Fans don't have to do any of that.
No, but it’s the main reason fans are pessimistic when a big time recruit commits. I’m Husker red until I’m dead but I no longer get excited about recruiting and I no longer expect players to stick around more than a season or two. The game has changed. Good for the players, but tougher for the fans.

interested to see how well Trae peer recruits over the next two years. DR was very good at that.
Trae: Coach R, who do you want me going after?

Rhule: Well, Trae, you didn't hear this from me but there's this WR committed to tHE oHIO sTate.......

Trae: Hold my near-beer.
