due to the coaching change? How did TL get another year of eligibility?

I don't think either transfer, both are capable in this offense and damn good. Don't anoint anyone at this point. Hell Georgia and OSU have like 3 5* kids on campus or with one coming in

No. If you transfer, you will have to sit out a year, like Lee did.

I get why you ask this, because Tanner was given a 6th year of eligibility. He received it due to his coach at Tulane getting fired, and the new coaches offense was drastically different than what was previously run.

He also missed a lot of time both of his years at Tulane, due to injury.

I don’t get it way so many people are ready to write off Gebbia and O’Brien if they choose to stay great the more competition the better they all get better. If gebbia played point guard in basketball he no slouch and O’Brien played in a similar offense in high school.

I fully agree. Can we PLEASE STOP this transfer talk with OBrein and Gebbia. Both could be great QBs for us still. Adding Martinez to our mix with those other two 4 star QBs, our chances go up that one will pan out and lead us to some great games ahead (note I didn’t say savior, National Champs, Conf Champs or any of that jazz). Sorry but my opinion, I don’t see any of them leaving, they ALL sound excited and ready to rock with Frost. If one does leave, best of luck to them but I just don’t see it from the way there sounding.

Gebbia can transfer and play right away cause he redshirted. POB played last year so he would have to sit a year.

I don't really understand all this transfer talk when it comes to POB and Gebbia. Frost is pursuing QBs and has had Martinez commit, yes. But, it should be expected that a QB should be recruited in every class. If Riley had brought in Martinez, this wouldn't even be a topic of conversation.

Both POB and Gebbia have more than enough mobility to run Frost's offense. Martinez will come in, redshirt, learn the offense (just as POB and Gebbia will), and allow us to continue having depth at the QB position in future years. Martinez may very well compete and win the job, but I doubt that is the intended move here by Frost.

They have both redshirted, but it doesn’t matter. If you transfer, you have to sit out a year. Only exceptions are graduate transfers.

Wow I did not realize this. So Tristan Gebbia will go two full years without playing a down if he transfers? That seems odd.

It’s pretty cut and dry. You transfer, you have to sit out a year. In some conferences, you have to sit out two years if you transfer within the Conference.

This. The only instances in which you can transfer from one FBS school to another without having to sit out a year:

1) Graduate transfer rule

The NCAA got involved in graduate transfers in April 2006, when it ruled that a college athlete who'd graduated but had remaining eligibility could transfer without sitting out a season in order to pursue a graduate degree his or her school did not offer or to attend a school that provided a better academic opportunity.

2) In the event of sanctions that affect a school's bowl eligibility. Even then, the only players definitely allowed to transfer and play immediately are those whose eligibility runs out before the school is bowl-eligible again.

Why talk about them transferring? Has someone heard that Martinez has them shaking in their boots? Wouldn't you expect a QB to be recruited behind you just about every year? Just the nature of the game. There will be competition at any other school they go too as well, unless they want to drop to a lower level

1000% guarantee that Scott has told them what they need to know, what to be prepared for and that they're going to have a lot of fun. If Frost's offense becomes anything like what it was at his previous school, all these QBs could see playing time with the amount of points that his offenses have scored. POB and TG have absolutely no reason to leave at all.
