Colin Kaepernick redux

You dont get it, obviously. Try thinking instead of assuming i meant im an nfl qb.

I'm not going to spend all day in this thread. You are not remotely on the same level as CK as it relates to the job of quarterback. That is what I'm saying. But free speech for everyone!

Beav - this is simply why you don't get what is happening to Kap. Just like the mainstream media, your head is in this alternative universe. What is the common denominator to this thread going nearly four pages? YOU - debating most every other common sense person. Without you, it would have stopped long ago. Just as most folks think there are two genders, there's always a fringe that will try to explain how there are several - it just depends on what mood you are in. I know where you stand - I won't change your mind and you won't change mine. Bottom line, Kap is unemployed and more black people have ceased to exist from shootings since he has brought awareness. Life goes on. Peace out.
Yeah you know who doesn't think there are two genders? People who understand biology. There are animals that can completely change from one biological sex to another, tons of species that engage in all manner of gay stuff, the list goes on.

Brace yourself...some people experience racism in the course of their lifetime. Shocker! That's pretty much all anyone ever said, and people like you who can't parse logical statements turn that into "everything is racist and you should feel sad for being white and liking the flag."

But you can run along, I won't try to pound any more facts into your head from my darned elitist education at that den of sin and liberalism...the University of Nebraska.

Well said.
Beav aint changing his mind and we arent changing ours about this.
You either hate America or you love it.
Please, scholar, break down for us how my assertion that the First Amendment applies to everyone qualifies as hating America? Standing up for the constitution = hates America? Seems legit. What's that oath the troops take? To defend the what again?

America doesn't belong to you or your definition of what is or isn't patriotic. That BS of "you will love everything about the state or you are an enemy" is straight out of the Third Reich/USSR/North Korea/Cuba playbook.

Not my problem you have revisionist history or simply fail to keep up with whats in the news....im sure your biased outlets did a great job keeping you informed as usual...not. Fake news! (Here comes fox news asssumption jab from lib playbook). How about you google what he said, and you seriously dont remember his trayvon press conferences? Wow.
You also fail to get my point about trayvon. Im not arguing the case, num nuts, and deep down you probably know that but like a typical liberal you cant argue something you redirect and label.
The point is not what happened, the point is a sitting president blamed racism in one murder in a country where thousands happen every week, stoked the flames of racial tension, assumed guilt for an american citizen before a trial even happened or evidence was even gathered, all to push his race baiting agenda and divide our nation while passive aggresively pointing out how bad america his, his true feelings. Anyway, you seem to totally ignore how awful it is for our supposed leader to do that. He race baited at every opportunity. Even liberal pundits have pointed out obamas failure on race.
And btw, zimmerman might be an idiot, and he was probably an idiot that night, but the image of trayvon just minding his own business, licking a lollypop after playing on the slide at the park and going home to study and cuddle with mom and was shot only cuz hes black is just as flawd. He played a role that night too, but the case isnt the point here.
It's your job to prove he said the things you claim he said. The reason you won't is because you can't. Instead you just bring up everything else you possibly can.

Red herring fallacy. You can't prove one point so you bring up 40 others instead.

Actually back in the day "wrapping yourself" in a flag was considered almost as disrespectful as burning it. I was taught at a young age that wearing clothing with depictions of the American flag in any form or manner other than a badge on a uniform was not to be done. Now we have American flag bikini underwear for the gay pride marchers. The Kaepernick saga had it's root in the Ferguson mess and yes Obama and his AG's office inflamed that situation for political purposes. IMO there have been multiple cops murdered in part because of the anger inflamed by his administration. We need administrations that build bridges between the communities instead of driving wedges. And building bridges doesn't mean looking the other way when crimes are committed.
Interesting choice that you declared it's gay pride marchers who wear American flag bikinis...

BabesTrump040416.jpg

Hell, I'm feeling offended...I wanna see them take those off!

I really wish people would make a bigger deal our of abiding by the flag code. Those women above look ridiculous...as do those wearing all manner of "flag" clothing.

Flag Code:
The flag should not be used as "wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery", or for covering a speaker's desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general (exception for coffins).

The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed, or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use.

Just say No!

And im not posting trayvon speeches, because anyone who says they dontnremember what he said...part of it word for word....they are idiots not worth talking to or liars. Probably both.

Do you still believe in the tooth fairy, too?

Congrats Beav - you are up to just short of 40 posts on this single topic. That is nearly a page alone of you belching up your drivel and animal kingdom wisdom. Here's to you taking this to 5 pages...

This entire situation is all about money. MONEY. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar "non-profit". Each team is probably worth at least a billion dollars. When one polarizing figure practices his freedom of speech, and costs one or all of these teams money, he is a problem to them all.

A few years ago, The Dixie Chicks decided to say mean things about President W. Bush. They were practicing their freedom of speech. Country music radio and the record industry lost their mind and pulled them from the radio. They have never recovered. They practiced their freedom and they can hold their head high knowing they lost millions because of it. That is their right just like it is CK's and the NFL for not signing him back.

I imagine the outrage would be much less, but how would you all feel if some redneck O-lineman started proudly displaying his rebel flag and talking about how great the Confederacy was? He may be cut and/or shunned and would likely cost him his job. Teams don't put up with headaches like that unless they are someone like Ray Lewis. He helped kill a couple guys. He is a hall of famer who the fans liked. His teammates loved him. Somehow he kept his job because racism or something. More like $$$.

I have never claimed different. I agree with your points. But like I said before, he had 1000s of opportunities to bring attention to his new cause before he chose a way that he knew would be distracting, disrespectful, and contreversial. The media making him a victim after his actions is just stupid.

I actually re-read what you said. Imagine that. I will agree that he's not a victim. However, he's also not some unpatriotic a-hole, either. He's made some marketing mistakes. It can't be that he's getting what he deserves because I don't like his message. And he should get back to being a professional. That includes when and where he speaks his mind. However, here can't be 60 QBs better than him. He should find a spot on some roster, even if just as the backup. He should get his shot. He shouldn't be denied just because some are gleeful he's crashing and burning. Jesus talks about loving thy enemy. Hell, Kap is not the enemy. You just disagree on his politics. Maybe if we could all listen to one another we may understand where we each are coming from. Like this very interaction you and I are having. :)

I have always said he is free to to what he did. But he is not free from repercussions, nothing about Freedom of Expression or Freedom of Speech protects him, you, or I from backlash (or not getting a job because teams dont want to deal with the circus he brings). These organization bring in MILLIONS of dollars each year. Putting any of that in jeopardy is a foolish move

Requiring one to stand and take an oath or face a flag is not patriotism. It is fascism.

I have never seen anyone, anywhere assert that Kapernick should be required to stand during the national anthem.

I have, however, seen many, many people say that sitting during the anthem is his right.

Got a quote or a link to the person making the "required" argument?

Actually I agree. Flag clothing is tacky, stupid, and I don't care for it. Specifically because of the flag code.

By all means, you copy and paste the lines that are such inflammatory race baiting. Rough summary of the parts where he mentions Ferguson:

"I'm not going to talk about the verdict. Some people feel a certain way, it's not good for them or for cops to have people feeling that way, we should all work together to make things better. That's what's great about America is that we work together to improve things."

MAN, what a dick! How dare he!

That's basically how I feel about it, but God forbid we all refrain from assuming I wish I could be paying him reparations and braiding his hair while I admire how he bangs my wife...

You sure skipped over a whole part, but ill ask you a few questions to get your take on what hes saying. Might help me see your viewpoint.
1. What do you think he meant by "its not good for them or for cops to have people feeling that way"
2. Thats whats great about America we work together to improve things....what things? What needs improved?

Wtf are you talking about.
Youre mental. Seriously insane.

1) He went on to specifically explain that many of those communities badly need police to help them to reduce crime and improve safety, and if they don't trust police (rightly or wrongly), that's bad because it means they don't want to call the cops when there is crime because they fear something bad happening to them. By that same token, police need people in the community to talk to them and tell them what's going on and when. Bluntly, they need "snitches" to help them know when a crime happens and who did it.

In simple terms, scared people don't set things up for success. If cops and the community are scared of each other, you don't want that.

2. See 1.

It's all in there. I don't understand what's not clear.

He didnt specifically say that, especially the (right or wrong) part, i like how you throw that in there. He doesnt think its wrong for blacks to be fearful of cops.
Im also not surprised even though i proved, as you wished, that he said what I posted above you failed to admit that I was right.
When he starts talking about michael brown it is 100% obvious to anyone with a brain that he is blaming the cops, america, and racism. As I said, he further divides america with this because brown was not killed because of any f those things, such as walking while black, and Obama is insinuating that he was, fueling the fire that led to a whole city being destroyed.
I especially think the part where he says white kids grow up racist was telling. Black kids cant grow up racist Barack? How about when you raise AA children to believe they are nothing but victims to white people it causes them to be unneccesarily fearful of those who dont look like them?? No, any fear there is justified, right?
Anyway, not surprised you skipped over the entire part that proved my point, but oh yeah youre right he said we need to heal the relationship between blacks and police, all bow to obama. Nevermind he makes it clear thats a 1 way street.
If you fail to even admit when I prove what I posted above was said or try to understand my viewpoint as to why its irresponsible for him to say these things at the time, then we are done here and you arent worth arguing against.

Good riddence. Sorry you dont like common sense and would rather follow an agenda than facts of life.

Your fantasy world is dystopian and fictional, where white is right. You should be ashamed, but you won't because you are too full of yourself.

I think he is trying to make a difference in the real world ...ironically he really hasnt said much its the talking tv heads keeping him in the news. From what I can tell he is quietly going about his own business. His protest has brought light to the issues alone.

For the burjillionth time, two things:

1) Simple lack of compliance is not the reason everyone gets shot, nor is it a justifiable reason to kill somebody. Not complying =/= trying to kill you.

2) A basic understanding of conflict situations and human psychology tells us that people may not be capable of complying for a variety of reasons, most of which are also NOT that they are trying to kill you.

There it is. You assuming you know why people choose to not watch, feel sorry, or are "pissed" at him.
Here's the thing, you can sit there and make your assumptions about everyone else thay you do not agree with. I am fine with that. I roll my eyes and realize that even though you claim that everyone is unique and should be helped/supported/whayever the latest craze is.... it only is ok if it is the same stance that YOU have. We are never all going to agree on much, but to act like you are so superior is tiring, and quite frankly freaking laughable.

Beav . . . .you are gonna lose this one by a wide wide margin ! Ain't buying your socio-psychological crap ! Seen too much in my 70 yrs ! Lived through the turmoil of the 60s. Time to stop making excuses for those who choose to fail !

He's a jackass. Getting everything he deserves. Should ride with the police for a week and get a tasted of the real world.
Look at the stop in Vegas last week. Guy refused to exit his vehicle, and ended up dead (but not after a cop took a round 1st). I guess the cops should just wait and get shot doing their jobs before responding. I know there is at least 1 expert in this thread who would do just that (if he was a cop, of course). I am sure since he has all the answers, he would always be perfectly fine. No criminals would ever do a bad thing with him around!

Do you call it that? Where's your psychology degree from? Mine's from UNL.
Now I understand completely! Thanks for sharing that - the final piece of the puzzle just fell into place. You appear the mention a psychology degree with pride. Today that puts you a little above the respect of attorneys and politicians .

Not many years ago, a video of a 55 year old choosing to leave his children to become a 6 year old would have been a Saturday Night Live clip. Today it's the new reality - thanks to "enlightened" people like yourself. Next stop - pedoafilia, polygamy, "insert your perversion". Anything goes...

Back to Kap, how much has the Castro T-shirt and the pig cop socks cost him? Move aside from the knee, this actions taken to many showed that his talk of protesting poor police treatment wasn't his thoughts. Especially the Castro shirt, since everyone with any thinking skills knows Castro and fair treatment of people couldn't be much further from each other.

Another solid 2-3 paragraphs from you of your own opinions sold as though they're direct quotes from a former POTUS. Copy + paste isn't hard...yet you can't do it. You're committed to thinking that no matter what the words on paper say, what he really meant is "white people are all evil, we're all victims, I hate America, I love terrorists."

You're going on ignore now. I enjoy a good discussion but I can't fix crazy.
