Colbert down to NU and team to the east

I'm going to say not.

We have a ton of young talent in the secondary. Based on his interview, he thought NU 'had nice facilities and the coaches were cool. and they built a new sports science building'.

He seemed much more enthralled with Iowa (it felt like home, the coaches were awesome, and his friend says good things about Iowa who is already on campus), and he probably has a better chance of seeing the field early.

My guess would be Iowa unless he comes to JR day and is wowed by something or someone in the class.

With the last couple of DB classes that NU has taken, they are going to be pretty selective next year. He may not even have a commitable offer right now. It may be Darnay Holmes or bust for this class.

Yah I thought I read somewhere we may only take 1 DB. In which case, I think we are on the Darnay or bust train.

I believe it is 1 CB and 1 S, unless multiple truly elite players want in.

I was reading on another board, that Stephen Carr (CA RB, Top 5 type of player at his position) has been offered by us, and his buddy is a Top 5 kind of CB too. They want to play together (don't they all). I think they know KJJ from the Cal circuit (probably a who doesn't too)

It would seem to me that at least in the secondary, we are piling up more interest than we could reasonably have room for, but that's a nice change!

you have to continue to stock the best possible talent at every position.. if someone transfers down the line, or gets bumped, it just means the guys playing are that much better.. if top 5 type of guys want in, you make room and let it work itself out on the field.

I think NU would be foolish not to accept a commitment from this kid. Yes, we have recruited well in the secondary, but you have to continue to go after the best players at every position. None of the blue chips recruits we've signed in the last two classes have set foot on the field and this kid is rated very similarly to them.

Darnay Holmes will have a scholarship available regardless and CB depth shouldn't have any effect on his decision.

I agree. This is a kid from a border state who is down to us and a division opponent. We need to snag him.

Glad to see so much interest from a lot of high caliber defensive backs. With the right hire for d-line coach hopefully we can have the same convo with linemen. GBR

Got to ask brotha, id take him and would be good to get him back there with Williams, Dismuke, Reed, Anderson (or is he getting placed at CB) and the other safties. But whats got you feeling hes a Husker, gut feelings, reading between the lines or what your hearing personally? And come on, why ask for a dam link....theres going to be no links to anything yet, even i know hes meaning it's a gut feeling or he is hearing something. But do share, all us Huskers would love to hear.

I think McQuitty at least tries to work on him. Not sure of his relationship with KJJ or if he will strike one up at Jr day. I think we have a shot, but I think he ends up at Iowa.

Same sources where you were reading the Farniok-Iowa lean or different sites?

That was a booster that said that, who to them, rarely misses on things of that nature. I just passed along that information.

In reading between the lines of his [Colbert] last rivals article - I think most would say he sounded more thorough when talking of them. Just opinion is all.

My gut tells me Iowa but it could be the Thai food.

I think he is Iowa bound as well from what i have been reading. Having been to Iowa City and seen their stadium, facilities and mediocre fan base/tradition, it is very hard for me to imagine that we could ever lose a kid to Iowa, but it happens occasionally. Relationships mean a lot and it sounds like they jumped on this kid very early.

I'm aware of the articles...I was asking him because he's developed a bit of a habit of hanging around here saying all of the prospects are going elsewhere (Iowa). Some accurately (Jackson), some inaccurately (Farniok) and some yet to be determined (Colbert).

Also, a lot of defending of Iowa in all sports, while tearing down Nebraska, for a self-professed Oregon fan on a Husker site.

In latest articles it would appear an Iowa lean.

Because it's unknown about Nebraska’s offer. He commits to Io_a, it's a place holder commit. He commits to Nebraska, he's going nowhere. Pretty obvious to everyone he wants Nebraska, just don't know if the feeling is mutual at this point in time.

I guess I don't understand. I don't think I have ever tore Nebraska down. I've posted things that aren't what Nebraska fans want to hear, if that's what you're referring to. I have also done the same with the Iowa fans regarding their beliefs on a number of topics.

There's no real need to defend that. I do enjoy keeping some posters honest; it sort of keeps those from posting off-topic drivel that clutters a board - both sides.

Would really like this kid to choose to be a Hawkeye, but a lot can happen between now and signing day.

Maybe you could help I am trying to figure out where the stock market is headed and I don't know of anyone more qualified on just about every subject in the universe so please keep sharing your wisdom oh wise one.

Not a stock market guy, I stick with stuff I know, and have a long history of accuracy.

You OTOH....

I don't understand what exactly you are saying. Known to everyone as in people in the know, or people that post here? Seems like a lot of people up above think he is a Hawk lean. Some clarification would be great.

The next part about being a place holder commit at Iowa. While it certainly can/has happened, it didn't last year for the Hawks. Everyone signed even after Michigan kids getting MSU offers.

Did Nebraska have a commit or two flip before signing day away from Nebraska?

As for the validity of a Nebraska scholarship, I have no idea. I would assume the kid seems to think so if he is going to visit Nebraska and Iowa before deciding. Seems he either is hoping Nebraska offers on the visit or he wants to compare the two to make sure he is making the right decision for himself.

It's unknown if his NU offer is one he can commit to now, compared to later on in the year. We're in on some serious talent and it'll be a smaller DB class for us in 2017.

He's all about Nebraska, by far his #1 choice. So ya, a placeholder with Io_a is very possible. Congrats on holding on to everyone that nobody wanted.

No, Nebraska didn't have any (public) commits flip before signing day. We did lose a silent commit to Clemson months ago and another to Louisville a week or so before signing day. Coach Riley has "lost" 2 commits in 2 classes. First one was Rueben Jones to Michigan (2015) and Terry Wilson to Oregon (2016).

He very well could be visiting NU to find out where he stands, and that's why NU is his second visit. I'm telling ya, he's all Nebraska if the offer is valid at this point in time.

I just watched his highlight tape and ill be honest, I wasn't impressed at all. I definitely trust the Iowa coaches but it wouldn't kill me if he went somewhere else. If he does choose Iowa, he will have coaching of the highest caliber at getting secondary players into the NFL.

Fair enough. Iowa is now his second visit as there was a 7 on 7 camp that interfered with his first date to visit Iowa.

I'm not sure that's how it'll end up though. IMO, it'd be smarter for him to visit Nebraska first, that way he knows where he stands and wouldn't have to take an unnecessary trip afterwards, or it would be a necessary trip.

I like his potential, someone will get a good player...

He does have good height and the strength will come. I'm still curious where this info is coming from that Nebraska is his absolute number one. You say it's unknown if the offer is actually available to him. It seems to me if its known he would commit to Nebraska on his visit if he gets an offer, then why not just come out and say it's known he doesn't have a commitable offer?

In other words if he takes his visit to Nebraska and then to Iowa, but commits to Nebraska, your theory goes up in smoke? Recruiting is fun isn't it?

You can doubt me all you want, 13 years of history and 100% accuracy sits back and chuckles. If you don't want answers, don't ask.

Theory? Laughing

And if it does who cares? I've already stated he is going to Iowa earlier in the thread. All signs have pointed to Iowa since day one. You guys get your jimmies rustled far too easily over the whims of 18 year old boys.

Huh? I'm not getting anything rustled. Just having a pretty mild mannered conversation with one of your members. Am I not free to come here and see what info is out there on recruits that both teams are after?
