Coach Question Twist

My first choice, mIke Riley, I want him to succeed. if not,

Mike Gundy, consistent performer, recruiting ties to
texas, his teams play fast and physical

Chris Petersen would put first but feel too unlikely

mike MacIntyre anybody that can make a winner out of San Jose St has something going on. Totally turned CU around from a dumpster fire in year 4.

Petersen has built Washington into a Top 5 caliber team. Why would he leave that for another rebuilding project?

Who knows? More money (like 3.6M isn't enough), being able to rebuild a once great program? Long shot, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Is this getting old yet?
I hope so.
Because this is getting straight up stupid.
We don't even have an AD, yet thread after thread and post after post speculates about new coaches.

Next person to start a thread about who the new coach should be should slapped side to side.

That's exactly why, regardless of what happens, I want those four you named (and probably Diaco) to stay.

Stay the course with Mike Riley. The likelihood a new coach keeps 4 to 5 members is very rare.

Mike Riley is 1-2, as is David Shaw at Stanford.

It isn't what was expected, but there are 9 B1G games and plenty of opportunities to get two B1G wins ahead of Wisconsin and Ohio State in Lincoln.

Our football program is completely out of whack right now. We are the butt of college football jokes in sports media and cannot afford to hire another coach like Riley. If we are going to fire Riley to hire somebody just like him, hell, we seriously might as well just stick with him.

Regardless of my opinion of our coaching staff (I still want Riley to succeed), my gut says that Ronnie Greene and the new AD will stick with Riley. If, however, the season continues downhill and Riley tallies at 2 losing seasons in 3 years, he'll get the boot.

IF we had to go with a different coach. I'd go young. And they need to understand the Nebraska culture: Play nice with the media but crush everyone.

Dave Aranda
Troy Calhoun
Scott Frost (People forget he recruited and coached Marcus Mariota)
Brent Venables (Worth a shot, he's from the middle of Kansas)

The biggest problem with hiring someone who does not have ties to Nebraska is that, if highly successful in Lincoln, they could likely jump at the first job that is more enticing.

put me in the no camp on Ken N., Miles, Briles, and Calhoun.

Dave Doreen coaches NC State. Formerly at NIU, Wisconsin asst. If he keeps winning I’d be interested in him.

Knocked off FSU today.

Art Briles. Proven winner everywhere he has gone. Will make Nebraska a Top 10 program within four years. Knows how to get the best players, and how to push them to win, at places like Houston and Baylor.

Blah blah blah, I know he had some scandals at Baylor. He also had an administration and a fanbase actively supporting that because he was winning. That wouldn't necessary happen at Nebraska.

I hope you are joking. That guy shouldn't get a job coaching peewee football.
