Now that Bookie's gone and others to follow...might as well get the ball rolling. Can't see any reason to not start over.
You got it backward. The final nails in the coffin was losing to Northern Illinois and the AD being fired. The class imploding is a result of having a lame duck staff

Is it really? Bookie says he was solid on Nebraska through April. What happened in April to cause him to have second thoughts?
This. I doubt that Bookie would have decommitted without all the doubt concerning Riley's future. The death spiral was set in motion when Eichorst was fired. Bookie seemed to be "all in" as a Husker before that event. You got it backward. The final nails in the coffin was losing to Northern Illinois and the AD being fired. He didn’t even commit until April. I don’t think what he wrote is what he is trying to say. If he was struggling with the decision in April why commit?
Yep, if you bring him back and he is viewed as a lame duck, you sabotage two recruiting classes. We really did not handle this very well, but nothing we can do now, have to move forward.
Sad to say but it seems at this point a foregone conclusion that Riley will be fired.
...which is why the program leadership (now under Moos) needs to be advancing the behind-the-scenes discussions asap if not sooner.
Probably. One would think so.Things may be ramping up in this regard.
Do tell...Things may be ramping up in this regard.
Okay but he does say he wanted to be a part of the Husker family from Feb 2016 to Apr 2017. My guess is he immediately regretted his decision but didn't know how to decommit. He's getting wined and dined by elite teams now. I wouldn't play for Nebraska either if I was visiting schools like Clemson and Oklahoma.
Has he had a full class yet?Yep. Nothing impressive on the field, recruits leaving and with Riley I doubt we come close to achieving a full recruiting class. He’s a great guy but it’s time to cut bait.

Riley was fired 4 years ago...sadly SE didn't tell him.Yep. Nothing impressive on the field, recruits leaving and with Riley I doubt we come close to achieving a full recruiting class. He’s a great guy but it’s time to cut bait.
I really feel for Riley by all accounts he worked hard, he fired Banker his friend and did have to deal with the toxicity from the Pelini era. The issue is that he should never have hired in the first place, Eichorst and Perlman are the root cause of all this upheaval both to our program and to these coaches.I think it's been handled fine. Riley & Co. are gone, period. Anybody thinking otherwise hasn't been paying attention.
Just for clarification: do Riley and co. share any blame for their lame duck status?Maybe, but as you said it’s a guess. He also chose to do a blog for Land of Ten well after the fact. He was given plenty of opportunities to decommit, from the IMG phot shoot to any number of interviews the past 6 months. The point of the matter is this class will fall apart and Bookie isn’t the last player to bail on this class. The class falling apart is a result of the Riley lame duck status not the cause of it.
No! See...even the kids in high school are toxic and stuff.Just for clarification: do Riley and co. share any blame for their lame duck status?

It makes no difference at all, I just hope this whole thing settled quicker rather than laterWhat the hell difference does it make? But yes not winning enough games has led to their lame duck status. But that doesn’t change the fact that the AD being fired and losing to Northern Illinois were the final nails in the coffin. The implosion of the recruiting class is a result of that. Had the recruiting class stayed intact Riley would still be getting fired at the end of the year.
So why delay the inevitable with the slow bleed of recruits? Pull a FL and fire MR now...get a jump-start on bringing in the next coach to get momentum moving up on the morale and recruiting fronts instead of the constant feeling of impending doom and a recruiting class of 6.
Who's going to commit to this staff? At least we'd be asking who is or will be committing when a new coach is hired as opposed to what we have now which is taking bets on who's next to leave the recruiting class on the first thing smoking. Why twist in the wind?Who is committing to a school with no head coach?

UCF have any recruits we can poach? I hear they might be losing their coach to.
