Chubba knows the way to San Jose

I agree. The offensive style will have to change going to HH from either of the Frosh.
IF we can keep some QB run in the offense having that to pull out if HH has to play, could cause problems for a defense. Haarberg as a backup is okay.

I believe the SJSU coach is going to become the next head coach at Arizona. Maybe Chubba can follow him to Tucson.
San Jose might be a better spot for Chubba. He might get a chance there to put up some big numbers. I think Zona has a starter coming back don’t they?

Well the AZ coach left, so those players have 30 days to enter to portal. So no one knows what they have coming back. As far as Purdy goes, I was more or less just being flippant, but if the coach leaves, there is no way of knowing if San Jose might be a better spot or not. New coach, new system.

HH has no upside at QB
The only upside is that he isn’t going to transfer out leaving us without a backup who can take snaps. He’s a better option than Matt Turman was. He’s maybe as good as most of Pelini’s backups. I’m not going to trash him. He can beat some teams. He’s a good guy to have in that room IMO and we need him.

For 2024 HH is pretty close to as good as it gets for a 3rd string qb. Ideally your 3rd string would be a 4 star freshman who is redshirting and your backup would be a 4 star with experience, but that is tough to pull off when we haven't been to a bowl in 7 years.

HH has no upside at QB
So what? That's like saying Jurgens had no upside at TE. HH is big, fast and explosive. Rhule loves finding roles for guys like that. He'll help us win games one way or another at some position, while also providing mature leadership among a lot of young guys at the offensive skill positions. No one thinks HH did a great job at QB, but I wouldn't trade him for five Chubba Purdys.

chubba would have been handy to have just incase..he seemed like he turned a corner at the end of last year.
Not based on his performance in clutch situations. He had turnovers in game winning situations in all of our last three games. That's not the kind of player you can rely on.

Isn’t he an option guy?😳. Chubba needs to find a different school fast.
Ryan Held has been in contact. Seriously though, maybe Niumatolo isn't wedded to the option now that he's not at a service academy. All respect to the guys around here that love it, running the option seems like something very few D1 recruits would be interested in.

Will Chubba be moving on his native state now that Brent Brennan has been hired to be the next Arizona Wildcat coach?
It’s strange that Chubba would commit to him at San Jose . He had to know he was taking the Arizona job.

Chubba can run a bit and if I were a coach that wanted that and also wanted a kid who can throw the ball, I'd try to keep him on my roster.

Wondering if it's because Brent Brennan took the Arizona job.
It’s interesting that the coach he committed to took a job 100 miles from Chubbas parents house. Maybe the coach thought he was good enough for San Jose but not Arizona. Or the fact that the Freshman QB At Arizona announced he was staying and Chubba figured he couldn’t beat him out.

Absolutely was but he’s had an offer from Nevada for a month. Nevada’s QB coach coached at Oregon for 4 years. Nevada hired Texas’s DC Choate as their head coach. Young staff.
