Chip Kelly and Ryan Day go way back.
Day was a quarterback at New Hampshire when Chip was the OC. Day also coached New Hampshire's TEs in 2002 when Chip was still calling plays.
When Chip was the head coach of the Eagles, he hired Day to be his QBs coach in 2015. Then when Chip was named the 49ers head coach in 2016, he hired Day to coach the QBs again (Day coached in San Fran for just one season before going to Ohio State).
