For more than a decade Riley and his staff worked inside the Corvalis bubble where they were not tormented by expectations. They got to enjoy the fruits of coaching without any of the stress that big time programs must embrace. Riley has shown he can step up and meet the pressure of coaching at DONU head on. This is "big boy" football and Banker would rather not have the accountability of bringing us back to championship caliber football. Riley, to me, seems 100% committed to this and is surrounding himself with coaches that share this vision.

Devaney was hired to ensure directional responsibility towards the goal of championships, and Eichorst desperately wants to be the AD that is ultimately responsible for all of it. Of course there will be fallout when accountability is the driving force behind the program, pushing it forward. Who cares if Eichorst and Devaney are pulling the strings? They appear to want this just as bad as we do and will reach their goals at any cost(short of cheating we hope). This should be embraced by all of us, and celebrated as we go forth towards championship level football. Is it guaranteed to work? Of course not, but the resolve is clearly there.

Regarding the media, and their agenda....its to sell subscriptions and website clicks. The weak minded will fall under their spell and let it shape their opinions about Riley, Eichorst, Devaney & Co. Here's an idea: Use your own senses to determine what is going on, and read the OWH & LJS as a compliment to understand other perspectives but realize that those perspectives are constructed by a responsibility to sell what they are producing. It's not unbiased. Bottom line...don't stress on what Sam, Dirk, Sip, Shatel write....its fluff.

For the first time in a long time, our bus is being driven by leaders that are putting championships at the top of the priority list and with that will come some collateral damage. DONU is in the storming phase of our redevelopment. The best is yet to come.
