BOR approved. All of the Regents on board with alcohol sales except

Alabama is still the Bible Belt holdout - no casinos and no lottery.
But plenty of other "devils works." Not to mention extreme poverty and federal funding.

Alabama is considered one of the states that is most dependent on federal funding, with federal funding making up 27% of its state revenue. However, Alabama also holds onto millions of dollars in unspent federal funds that are meant to support low-income families.

I'm still shocked that we now have casinos in Nebraska. So dumb to pour all that money into Iowa year after year.
Yes...It's the Nebraska way... In the meantime every landowner/homeowner are taking it in the shorts... But that's the public schools faults.

I didn't mean it as a positive - more of an oddity given they are surrounded by states with these things and lose revenue to all surrounding states.

I grew up in the Devaney years smelling cigars & whisky on every guy's breath.

It's baseball I'm most happy about. It's the American way!
⚾ + 🌭 + 🍺 = 😎

Good thing Farve doesn't live there

Barry is just a fun-loving good guy. He has nothing but love and respect for NU and T.O. His OU teams always had that Sooner Magic against T.O early in his career.
It took me a lot of years to be ok with Switzer. His remarks always got under my skin. It was even worse when he beat us, which was frequently.

Great. More drunken idiots. Glad I have no interest in attending any games.

To be open, I have been to one casino in my life and it was to attend a meeting of college leaders. Think I spent $10 on some kind of machine, a dime at a time as I recall. Found it terribly boring. Still have never purchased a lottery ticket. When they first were available in KS the college I was at gave them at at our annual Christmas party and I won $2.00 so I am way ahead.

All that said, knowing the odds are stacked way against anyone winning. You go against those odds and with the constant drumbeat beat of how inflation has ravaged the economy of many, it seems there is still room for gambling. I don’t knock those that enjoy those things, part of living in a free, for now, country.

I don’t know what schools receive in NE from gambling but when I got out several years it wasn’t much. It sure wasn’t even close to what the pro-gamblers promised. Gambling is a big business as is selling alcohol, the casinos I drive by all seem to have nice big buildings and lots of shiny stuff to offer on someone else’s dime, just not mine.

Only thing positive about Bama is their football.
