Bigger embarrassment: Losing to U of I or Letting RB run for 400 yrds?

Illinois loss and it ain't even close.

Nobody in the country even remembers the 408 but us.
They are to busy laughing at the fact we are 2-3.

Going 4-8 or 5-7 will be very embarrassing. Too be expected when you hire an average nice guy.

The 408 game was pretty bad; however, as someone else already pointed out, the only people who remember that stat are Husker fans. At this point, the Illinois loss is more embarassing. The season is still young though, so there are many opportunities for more embarrassment ahead.

More than the yards, the score, freakin getting 70 hung on you. couldn't stomach the end is that what it was?

It's the process.

The 408 is over, in the past, done. Heck, it isn't even a record anymore. The 2-3 with losses to 3 unranked teams is a continuing gift from Shawn.

I actually don't yet believe we are this bad. I think we have to upset someone, and beat Rutgers. But who can we beat now-Wisconsin? Minnesota? Purdue? Iowa?

Am I really typing this?

I agree 100% with your first statement.

In 3 quarters, while laughing the whole time. Thank God for the goal line or he would still be running.

Isn't that the truth. I mean, I loved it when we used to do it to the very teams that beat us today. However painful the losing of today is nothing compares to December 2012. It was the most embarrassing moment I have felt as a Husker fan.

The jury is out on Riley. However, all the games he's lost were at the last second. I'm saying that is unfortunate, but I believe Riley is trying to hold this team together with all it's issues. To those that say it's because of the ineffectiveness of Riley, I'm not sure how this will all turn out. I say that Riley deserves a chance to build a program that can compete for conference championships and titles.

408 yards and it isn't even close. Look at it this way. How many people around the country know we lost to Illinois? Not many I would guess unless they actually looked up the score. How many people around the country knew we had a running back run for 408 yards on us? Many-because it was an NCAA record and the highlights were shown over and over again that day because of it. We only have Samaje Perine to thank for it not still being an NCAA record now. In the annals of college football history, nobody would talk about us losing to Illinois. Teams that should win lose to lowly teams all the time. Having a running back run for 400+ yards on you has only happened 3 times in FBS history. We had one of them. Think about that when you compare the two.

Both are a travesty. I can`t comprehend losing to Illinois. They are one of the worst teams I have ever seen. We are worse.

Agree with this...

I still go with 408 in 3 quarters is worse. Every team can have a horrible night when nothing works out right.

So it's more embarrassing to you because of what other people think?

Both are bad, but I'll say the 408 yards because it came with a great big helping of We Give Up.

That doesn't mean I feel good about the ineptitude on display Saturday, however.

408, and I just got news that MGIII scored again. Thankfully, Bobby Stoops and Semaje Perine bailed us out the next week with 427. The loss to Illinois is up there and it put a dent in my soul, but we got embarrassed in front of 4 times an audience last year in Madison on ABC. Plus, just think about it and repeat to thyself: 408 yards by 1 player. 408 yards by 1 player.

Both were nut shots.
408 was a square 2 step shot that makes you puke.
Illinois was more of a nut shot that only hit one nut and makes your stomach hurt for a while.

Nailed it - heck Purdue came close to beating Mich St......a close loss to a team that is not as good on the road happens....408 had NEVER happened.

400 yards on national TV and 70 points. Not even close. I will never forget that one. This Illinois loss doesn't even rank in the top 5 for me.

408 is horrible bad... But I would say the 70-31 is an even worse number considering it was just a title game and all that they did it to us in.

The Illinois game, while bad to those around here, isn't even close. Nobody in the national media even references it, because A. Bo made us so irrelevant that no one outside of Nebraska cares, and B. There were several worse losses in college football this past Saturday (ex. Texas). Win this weekend vs Wisky and Illinois is all but forgotten and were right back in the west race.

So in closing... Sorry Botards. You lose (again).

nothing will ever be worse than 38-0 @ halftime to ok st in 2007
This deserves some run.

HOW we lost to Illinois is what has me most embarassed. Bo's D was terrible in almost every game we played against Wisconsin. It almost didn't surprise me. We're supposed to have good coaches now that maximize talent. Still waiting on that to show up

Bigger embarrassment was winning by 1 when you should have made a few FGs and 4th and inches and won by plenty

Is this even a question? Does anybody doubt for a second that Gordon would have gotten between 500-550 had they let him continue running the ball in the 4th quarter?

408...especially since last year team was a good team. The Illinois loss is only embarrassing in how it happened.

It has to be 408. It was an all time record, and it was done in about 2.5 quarters.

Good teams lose to bad teams, pretty much each and every week. Mediocre teams lose to bad teams, pretty much every week. I don't know that folks can claim we are such a backwater program now that no one in the national conversation cares to pay attention to us, and then simultaneously claim that the Illini game is at the forefront of the national conversation. If anything, I've heard more national ire about OSU all of a sudden sucking (albeit not losing), than anything about NU period.

EVERYBODY knew about the 408. I've got dudes in my fantasy league who don't even watch college football who picked up Melvin Gordon because they figured he was pretty good based on that one game and the associated Heisman hype.
