Agreed. Lot's of people trying to get on the Nebraska train because they know we will get there
I want to see this offense explode and be consistent in doing so before I move us into a 2nd tier. With that said I think we got Fvcked in the 2nd half on some crucial bs holding calls. We could have easily been 35-42 points scored that night.

It's kinda hilarious watching all of the media pundits starting to salivate over Nebraska. These are the same class of folks that have been chastising us for YEARS saying that Nebraska could never return to elite status. Now, I do appreciate a guy like Greg McElroy who probably correctly pointed out that the limitations that existed before NIL no longer apply to Nebraska. Geography is irrelevant these days. I'm getting really excited because I don't think there is a ceiling on what Nebraska can accomplish under Rhule in the next 3-4 years.
I’m ok with this as it is the media way. Hop on the hot bandwagon. I won’t be ok if DBags like Finebaum and Pat Forde start hoping on!
You don’t have worry about that chode smoker Pat Forde. He’ll never unequivocally praise Nebraska.
I think the media has wanted us to be back - but we literally gave them no reason to support us the past 10 years.

I don’t think the average Nebraska fan understands just how much the changed landscape of modern college football favors teams like Nebraska who can raise the necessary NIL money. Geography and being in “flyover country” no longer matters. Money talks just as it has for millennia. And so far Nebraska has done well with Nil

Assuming cMR stays that long. He & his family seem to want to, but as great as NU fans are, they can also be brutal. Not sure if its real or not, but posts here calling for firings already, and all the pretend "coach speak" that so many spout in such a small and intensely watched & microscoped market will take a toll, so I recommend posters here stay cool, especially after losses, that are, well, part of the game.
I do think NU has strong NIL prospects, good isolation & focus like the old days which many big ego players really need, and being so uniquely centered in what has become a coast to coast conference with BIG money and TV exposure is something that a guy like cMR can build again into a Natty culture. But PSU may come calling some day, or another of the top tiered programs with BIG salary money and exposure. Coaches are competitive creatures, and often sly. I still wonder why cMR didn't stay at previous places. I also marvel that guys like Devaney and Osborne saw the great potential of longevity and building something that changes the landscape, even in places like Nebraska, where others say "Huh".
Temple and Baylor are not top tier. PSU is possible, but I doubt random message board fans have much effect on what coaches do, certainly much less than the people signing the checks. I guarantee you that there is less pressure here, after years of struggle, then at any program with the resources to court Rhule (assuming he has success here).
That and I think the fans and boosters were truly ready to move on from the previous era and do a legitimate coaching search.
You think Nebraska is a microscoped market and puts undo pressure on coaches? lol. The last 3 coaches had to fail on the most epic of levels to get fired. Frost should’ve been canned for 3 consecutive years. Rhule will be one of the 5 highest paid coaches in college football if he can take the Huskers to playoffs and consistent relevance.
Agree with this. But I have to think that Rhule knows the score on fanatical fan bases. Husker fans are fanatics, but at the end of the day, we’re still “Nebraska Nice”. Penn State fans are every bit as obsessed with winning as we are, but without the “nice” part; they’re absolutely brutal even when the program is rolling. Franklin isn’t a world beater, but he’s still 90-39 since 2014 and they’ve wanted him summarily fired for years.
Rhule had to deal with an ungrateful Baylor fan base (well, ungrateful “then”; they’d give their left arm to have him back now) that wasnt satisfied mainly because he wasn’t Art Briles. He had to deal with delusional, degenerate fans in Carolina who couldn’t see that the team owner is the problem. I think Rhule knows that he’s got it pretty good here in Lincoln, all things considered.
