Nice win for Minnesota. Would be a nice feather in their cap to win tomorrow as well, but at this stage, earning an at large NCAA spot is probably out of reach (RPI 71).

They used 2 pitchers yesterday, and a different 3 pitchers today, with relievers throwing between 23 and 31 pitches, starters going 100 and 101 pitches each. Managing well so far.

Very cool win for the Gophers. Repeating tomorrow would be a nice boost in B1G prestige (and, yes, we need it Winking).

They really had a shot at Friday's game also. Bases loaded with one out in the eighth and only scored one. Gilbreath pitched really well. Certainly enjoyed the win today.

Looks like it's going to be a tight race till the very end..

Plus side is Huskers get last place Penn St to finish the season

Hoping Jake can pitch and be effective today.

If the Huskers win out (beat Michigan State today, sweep Penn State next week) and the Gophers sweep their games next week (two vs. Rutgers, three vs. Purdue), then the Huskers would finish 17-6-1 while the Gophers finish at 17-6...and Minnesota would win the B1G regular season title.

Nebraska needs Minnesota to lose at least one of its final five league games.

Minny will be playing 5 games in 5 days am I correct? Regardless, that is a lot of games to expect anyone to sweep. If we take care of our end I feel they will slip up and we will be just fine. The question is will we take care of our end? It stars today, GBR!

They play Long Beach today, a doubleheader against Rutgers on Tuesday and then begin their three game series against Purdue on Thursday

Curious why Does Minnesota and Rutgers have only 23 conference games and everyone else has 24?

Their original 3-game series was cancelled like the 2nd or 3rd week of the conference season. Rutgers couldn't get a flight out due to weather and decided to just say screw it that weekend. They found May 16 to be get a doubleheader in so that they could at least get a couple games in.

Otherwise, they'd each only be playing 21 conference games.

Yep, five in five. If Minnesota pulls that off we just congratulate them with a tip of the hat.

Thinking that Rutgers and Purdue can get at least one of those games.

Man, Purdue's really been on a slide. Just got swept by Michigan, have lost 5 of their last 6 conference games, and are 4-9 over their last 13 conference games.

Rutgers went on the cheap trying to get flights to Minnesota originally, and connecting flights thru Atlanta got canceled. They wouldn't pony up for a charter or a direct flight. That's why we're in the situation we are today
