Big 10 adding FSU?

false. it will be three. the b12 will add pitt, nc state, louisville, and the like. three 20-team or more super conferences all buying players in an nfl light model and acting otherwise.
The Big 12 will just be the stepchild to the Big 10 and SEC. It won't get the TV money or respect in the playoff rankings (which will have 5-6 teams each from expanded Big 10 and SEC). They'll fold into 2 30 team conferences and that will be the end

I don't think there's going to be two 30 team conferences. More likely to be one 32 team super conference with two divisions IMO. It's about media money sharing. 60 teams would dilute the pie too much for the rich teams to accept.

i think folks are past the AAU thing now. 10 years ago...it mattered. today, not so much.

edit: i say that based only on my opinion which is negatively biased towards AAU. looking at facts, the new B1G with 4 west coast teams, 17 of the 18 are AAU members. maybe it does matter.

but---if Alabama/Georgia wanted to jump conferences to B1G, would B1G shun them because of no AAU? I dont think so.
Of course they would.

it would be a killer move if the BIG could convince nw to join the ivy then replace them with nd...

then add 5 acc schools....nc, clemson, fsu, smu and miami...

then add houston...

that would be 24 teams from ny to la and washington to miami, with a definite recruiting footprint better then the rust belt.

hey it's the offseason...
No to SMU and Houston. They bring squat to the table.

Two super conferences as other have stated before. Big 10 is NFC, SEC is AFC.

Sixteen team playoff, four divisions in each league. Eight division winners get in playoff. Four wild cards get in, top two seeds get byes. It's not perfect, there will be controversy as different divisions will be deemed tougher than others . But it's better than having empty suits choosing who they think is best. Records should decide that.

College football as we know it is forever changed. Pac-12 is dead, Big East died a decade ago. It's a matter of when the Big two separate from everybody else. Only question is if teams like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wake Forest, and Rutgers get kicked aside. In favor of Clemson, FSU, Miami, and North Carolina.

Plus whatever is going to happen to that unicorn Notre Dame. They're special obviously.

The Big 12 will always have teams that will have no problem with the middle and lower teams in the Big 10. Hell, the Big 12 champ - little TCU - knocked the Big 10 champ out of the college FB playoffs earlier this year. Expanding on that, it will make no difference how the conferences turn out, it will always be the same elite teams (think warm weather - SEC or Southern schools) that win national championships 9 out of 10 years, just as it has been for the last 23 years. Look where the recruits are and the high school districts that are football fanatics and develop talent- Texas, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, every now and then Florida, Auburn, FSU, Clemson. Ohio St. is the outlier. Maybe USC can get going...big maybe since the West coast is abandoning college football. ND? I don't think they - the administration - have the stomach for it - especially when the players - now professionals - are no longer required to be students, and I agree with McMurphy, that is coming soon.
Had to laugh at the Michigan reaction when they learned they had to play Alabama and not FSU.

Michigan reacted that way because they felt fsu got robbed.

I am hearing nc and va to the SEC. Regardless I think we're going to be left with two super conferences and that's really bad for college football.

Virginia is tied at the hip to Virginia Tech. That might affect whether or not Virginia is able to leave the ACC.

Tied at the hip used to be a big valid concern. But ever since Texas A&M was able to ditch Texas for the SEC, not so much any more. Just recently for example Washington and Oregon left their in-state rivals behind and UCLA was able to leave Cal behind. Oklahoma left Oklahoma State behind.

It's different for every state. Some states have laws on the books keeping institutions tied together.

Why is it bad though?

In realty most of these teams never really play each other anyway.

It is not like Texas is playing games vs Indiana or The Huskers are scheduling Washington State...

I just miss the old days with the New Year's Day bowls meaning something. I'm showing my age I know. clearly college football has passed me by.

Yeah the grant of rights issue is also holding some of these teams back but I think the ACC is on the verge of collapse

Yeah, I get that.

Now, once it gets to 12 and finally 16, which I think it will...those games will take on a new meaning.

the cfp will be so much better with expansion for both fans and revenue. i wonder though without some sort of fix on nil if it will matter?

if we don't get to contracts and program salary caps, the college game will truly just evolve into something worse than nfl light. no way k-state, army, utah, iowa, or the like compete with aTm, michigan, ohio state, texas nor survive that money crunch.

You're looking at and comparing the quality of the programs and totally ignoring the eyeballs (TV markets - huge money) which is driving everything today. It's not that hard.

I think the legacy teams of the Big 10 and SEC will get to stay. Anyone on the margin that can't point to obvious value in the money sports will be left out. All that said the Big 10 should grab FSU and Clemson before the SEC does. Those are the value programs in the ACC.

If anyone believes that (Michigan cares about FSU getting robbed) I have some land in Florida I would like to talk to you about.
If anyone believes that michigan is scared of alabama i have some tropical paradise in alberta to sell you.

Watch the entire video, not the clipped version. They were stunned it wasnt fsu.

If you really think these athletes are scared of bama youve never been around high caliber athletes. These guys are competitive freaks and scared of no one.

Why they cheat then? Seem like scared p*ssies to me. But what's new - it's MeCheatin' we're talking about here.

I just miss the old days with the New Year's Day bowls meaning something.
I'm nearly 62, and I'm excited for the 12-team playoff because it means the New Year's Day bowls (quarterfinals) will be the quarterfinals, though one game will be played on New Year's Eve.

WARNING: VOLLEYBALL RANT

You know the networks wouldn't stack all four national quarterfinals on the same day with just two hours between start times, guaranteeing that no game would be shown in its entirety on a single network. Of course, that's what ESPN did with volleyball, sticking all four games on the "U" with only two hours separating start times for games that were nearly all guaranteed to run longer than two hours, which they all did.

I think Michigan only cares about Michigan. And they thought playing Florida State with their backup QB would get them to the championship game with ease. Michigan is intimidated by Alabama.
Yes. And so easy to understand. What school would not FSU on the field against them, instead of Alabama.

I think the fear is from the mich fans. I think they're the ones intimidated by Alabama. I doubt the Michigan players are intimidated. that's a very good team up there.

Coaches chose to cheat, not the players.

A poster referenced a video where players were shocked at the matchup. People online are trying to paint a picture that mich is scared of bama, without any other context,

Lol.
Michigans players are as intimidated by alabama as alabamas players are intimidated by michigan.

Not happening. FSU is not a member of the AAU.

At least UN was when they were admitted. I'm surprised the Big Ten didn't give Nebraska the boot when the AAU did.
Nebraska brings lots of money. AAU membership is a joke when it comes to sports. Traditional (mostl likely some major scandal) B1G schools need to worry about the cheating racit perverts before AAU. I wish Nebraksa would go to the SEC.

True. They need time for filler. But, unlike b1g, they do shove it over to a sister station so we can see it vs coming in halfway through set 2

ACC will be nothing without Clemson and FSU.
The ACC will crumble before their grant of rights expires. Exactly how soon though is anybody's guess right now. It requires a certain number of schools to vote for termination and I think if the schools wanting to leave collectively offered a big enough bribe for getting some schools to vote for termination, it could happen that way as well.

The schools receiving a money bribe but not getting invites to the B1G or SEC could go the Big 12 and be better off overall than in the ACC.
