CBS did a pregame feature on different bench traditions around the country. They included Nebraska and said “if these guys spent as much time trying to play basketball as they did on their bench we might still be seeing in them in March.” Ouch!

They did a lot of orchestrated routines following dunks, big three-pointers, etc., similar to what NFL teams used to do in the end zone after a TD. Not something I'm a huge fan of, but I don't see any reason for CBS to criticize them for it. I doubt they took time out from practice to work on their pantomime skills. As somebody who spent more time cleaning out his fish tank than watching our basketball team this year (and I don't own any fish), what does our bench do that was worthy of this mention?
Why the constant crapping on it?
I could not agree with you more. I know why though... they want Miles fired and any reason is a good reason.

Did you watch a single Nebraska basketball game this season?

Not sure why CBS would want Miles fired.
Nobody here seems deeply offended, and you're the only one who said anything about firing Miles.I should've been more clear. I wasn't referring to CBS, I was referring to people on this board who are deeply offended by the bench having a good time. Probably the same people who cream their shorts whenever a defensive player "throws the bones", etc.
You can't practice with only 8 or 9 players. And while teams could (and do) have practice squad guys who don't even suit up for games, I would think it's hard to get decent players to show up every day if you don't even let them dress. Why are they on the team, if not to score points, get rebounds, assist on baskets, play some defense? Why not just have an 8 or 9 man roster?
.
So what's stopping you from saying something positive about the season, instead of squealing at everyone else about what terrible fans they are?Johnny SuperFan, I like it. So... no one around here has been talking about wanting Miles gone? Okay, I guess I imagined it. I enjoyed the basketball season because it was wildly successful by our standards and I think next year could be better. But I haven't seen much positive said about the season. My bad.

And nobody even mentioned Miles in this thread until you brought him up. If you don't like seeing that argument here, why did you choose to start it?
As I said, I didn't much hand-wringing about the bench in this thread. The OP just reported what CBS said, which I found to be a bit of a cheap shot. You're certainly free to "interpret" the thread any damn way you please, so let me see if I understand it correctly:Just because letters M-I-L-E-S wasn't typed in this SPECIFIC thread, doesn't mean I can't interpret the hand wringing about the bench (again, not just in THIS thread) as more piling on about the team/season.
Did that "clan" post in this thread? You know what he's talking about. There's a certain clan on here that just won't let the board enjoy this season. The narrative is that this only postpones what many feel needs to be done.
But a sophisticated fan like YOU can read between the lines can see that these posters really just want Miles fired!
Sound about right?
Sorry to have tugged on your superfan cape, Johnny, but you win. Your finger wagging is duly noted:Pretty close, but you don't have to be that sophisticated to see it.

You ignored my first sentence, by the way.
And, no, I don't want Miles fired.
Conveniently leaving off the top two bench players. I'm pretty sure you can grab the bottom 8 guys (including walk-ons) and find similar stats. Some people simply come from a place of negativity.Facts? These guys combined for less than 6 points/game
