Hey @itseasyas1-2-3, I'd love to get your thoughts on this year's Belmont Stakes.
With the scratches in the Derby and the lack of big names in the Preakness, I'm actually considerably more excited for the Belmont than I was for the previous races. IMO - Forte, Angel of Empire, and Tapit Trice are the best three-year-olds in this year's crop. We finally get to see them all run in the same race.
I think this field sets up perfectly for Forte. There's a little more early speed here than the Preakness, but I anticipate Forte sitting right off of National Treasure's hip with modest figures and having plenty of gas left in the tank to hold off the closers. He's never ran crazy figures, but I honestly thought this horse had the talent to win the Triple Crown before he scratched on Derby Day. The amount of tactical speed that he's shown when asked is unbelievable. I'm really hoping that the 70-day layoff will scare enough people away to get 7/2 on him (unlikely).
