Be Patient - Remember Rhule's Rebuild Formula

There is no way our offensive or defensive lines will be good enough to sniff 10-11 wins next year. These are very experienced groups this year, and they are still getting dominated.

Agreed. We will need serious transfer portal additions on both lines if we want to have 10 wins next year

Illinois made us one dimensional and then teed off on Raiola. You HAVE to commit to running the football. They knew we weren’t going to try to run in OT.
They teed off? Maybe in OT, but not throughout the game. I do agree we have to run the ball more, but also can’t always be so predictable

I do agree. I see improvement in certain areas. But I really don't think Illinois is very good. And to lose in that fashion on national tv once again. Being out coached. So sloppy. And the number of players we are set to lose after the season. People better be prepared for a major letdown.
Yeah, Illinois is not that good. 8 wins would be phenomenal for them.

That game should have been won. Our staff can’t get out of their own way. And please coach discipline. Quit blaming the players. IL has worse roster. Big Burt gets more out of them and knows how to scheme a win
I disagree. IL is better at DB, WR, K (by a lot), and OL. It's probably equal at RB, and close to that at QB, DL, and TE. I don't think we lost to a bad team. But yes, this game was winnable and should have been. I'm frustrated with our OL and running game and defense as a whole. Kicker we'll have to live with until the off-season unless the soccer team has one.

I agree with K. The rest I’ll agree to disagree. I think Burt gets more out of his players and lets them play an aggressive man defense rather than our BS cover four pillow top coverage

Have to be more aggressive on defense. Our offense moved the ball about as well on a BIG team than they did against all the non-conference. We get two more possessions in regulation I think we win that game by at least 10.

Temple, sure. However, don't look now, but until the last couple years, Baylor has been far more successful than we have. They had a pretty nice little 10 or so year run there that we'd have loved to have.
In the sense of a long term, been there, done that program, Baylor doesn’t compare. Sure, most recently everyone is better than Nebraska.

Why shouldn't we expect different? Was he given what he was given here at those stops? Including 10 million a year? I don't expect to be 1-28 since 2018 in tied or one score games with the ball on the final possession....which is what we are. I don't expect coaches here to lose 24 straight to ranked opponents. That's not all Rhule, but it's indicative of the performance we've allowed here among the last 3 coaching staffs. Fix it. Today. Not tomorrow, not next year, today.

Can't put what happened from 2018 to 2022 on him. If you don't wanna give him time you might wanna find a new team. It was never gonna be a quick fix. I actually think he's ahead of schedule tbh.

Some of you guys are really throwing a tantrum like a toddler. Expecting a coach to take a program that hasn’t been to a bowl game in 8 years to being a top 20 team in year two is ridiculous. We lack talent. That isn’t a two year fix. Get a grip. Or should we fire Rhule midway through year two for a single loss? Everyone wants to bitch and complain, no one has a solution. No one actually wants to follow through and do something about what they deem as unacceptable. You’re just here to blow off steam and blame someone.

I think we had enough talent to beat Illinois but we made too many unforced errors. Offsides, facemasj, hands to the face etc..,,missed field goal, missed wide open TE for a TD….😕

I don't see people panicking. I do see people wanting to win, winnable games at home. It's not unreasonable in year 2.

No team plays perfect football. Is it a coaches fault Dylan missed on a throw? Those things happen. We had enough talent to beat Illinois. We don’t have enough talent to overwhelm Illinois. They had matchup advantages and exploited them. We have players that have shit the bed in every close game the last 5 years.

All of that aside; what is the point of the post? Rhule and co suck? Should we fire them? What are you driving at? Or are you just complaining, like I said above?

Unfortunately it’s going to be like this till at least next Saturday.

Who said they had to be perfect? Have to be better than 1-28 though, when you have the last possession in a 1 score game. Not sure the right number, but maybe you get 1/3 of those? Can't be where it's at.

Just think where we would be without the portal wide receivers. This like the old days of only recruiting high school or CC kids. I don’t think the disappointment is on a loss but how it happened and who the team was. I am not calling for Rhule but think back a few coaches and how patient everyone was. The patience is thin and when people see the past repeat itself, it is disconcerting.
