Soccer?Well what else would Creighton have to spend their NIL on? Of course they spend it on basketball.

Something that comes to mind, the schools that don't have football teams are the big winners in the new pay players rules. I think the limit is $20.5 million or something like that for all athletes to be directly paid from athletic funds. If you don't have a football team, you can devote most of that to basketball. Are there some different limits if you don't have a football team?Pryce Sandfort (Iowa) visited yesterday. McCollum is going to push hard to keep him. Haven't heard of any other visitors lined up.
Supposedly Creighton paid $2 million for Freeman from Iowa. If players like him are getting paid that much, it's going to be hard for us to get anyone good, unless the NIL budget has increased significantly.
The big east won’t have the same as the big or Sec to spend because of the media contacts. There cap will like be around 10 but they can give to majority to BB so yes they will have an advantageSomething that comes to mind, the schools that don't have football teams are the big winners in the new pay players rules. So I was given bad information on here previously.Creighton has plenty of alumni high up in the finance industry and basketball is their main sport. They have one of the highest NIL budgets for basketball in the Big East and beyond.
All it takes is one big alumni donating. If you had 20 million, you could have an entire team of 2nd round draft picks, or a lottery pick and 6 2nd rounders for the same as they would be making in the NBA, having to play 1/3 the games. The big east won’t have the same as the big or Sec to spend because of the media contacts. Baylor Scheierman was a Summit league player.
The sins a being a jayskers strike againAnd some if not most of the Omaha NIL money that could help NU basketball goes to Creighton.
It may not be the case every year. I haven’t seen the guy play but he must have some talent. So was Frankie Fidler (Michigan State), and Grant Nelson (Alabama), and Zeke Mayo (Kansas). So it's ridiculous to think the Summit League Player of the Year isn't good enough for our program.
I would rather go after stars from the mid majors rather than do what we did last year which was go after players(Ulis, Worster, Berke, Griffiths, Essegian, and Meah) that were reserves for big ten teams. Andrew Morgan was a good example of a player from North Dakota State who came in and gave us some good minutes off the bench. He was never going to be a starter and it would be foolish to think he would be. You need stars from those leagues. So was Frankie Fidler (Michigan State), and Grant Nelson (Alabama), and Zeke Mayo (Kansas). So it's ridiculous to think the Summit League Player of the Year isn't good enough for our program.
Should have been a HuskerBaylor Scheierman was a Summit league player.
There are others too like Xavier, Villanova, and such and such.Something that comes to mind, the schools that don't have football teams are the big winners in the new pay players rules. Wealthy private schools like Loyola Marymount, Gonzaga, Creighton, Marquette, and Seton Hall can really take advantage.

Also Huskers were coming off 7,7, and 10 win seasons when he was transferring why would that be attractive?Should have been a Husker
Yep, losing and shitty offense.Hoibergs style didn’t suit him
Do you really think those teams you named are going to abide by any NCAA NIL salary caps IF they get enacted. Some of those schools have almost unlimited NiL money now. Jerry Jones funds one. CEOs of major publicly traded companies fund another. That’s just their top donors. Forget about the puny energy exec money. So how do you explain Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Michigan, Oregon, Florida, Miami, Houston and TTech? Could also throw in there If Oklahoma and Texas.
Schools without football programs are currently completely eliminated from the NCAA tournament. Not one has made the sweet sixteen. Your theory is crap and completely false. You either make the commitment to fund both of your top revenue sports or you be a bitch and falsely accept you can’t fund both. Which has been our M.O. forever.
I could halfway deal with it if we were actually good at football. But this current path is a complete failure when it comes to how we spend our NIL money.

We're talking about the future once the new rules are in effect. Not this season where you can still launder booster money to players. So how do you explain Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Michigan, Oregon, Florida, Miami, Houston and TTech? Could also throw in there If Oklahoma and Texas.

Exactly. He was the exact type of player that thrives under Greg McDermott. Had he come to Lincoln he would not have flourished quite the same.Yep, losing and shitty offense.
Then I'd say time for new offense.Exactly. He was the exact type of player that thrives under Greg McDermott. Had he come to Lincoln he would not have flourished quite the same.

You did far less to make it, so why do you get to decide how they should spend it? You wouldnt last on a farmThat’s not the point we were discussing whatsoever. I was addressing his assertion that schools without a football program have a financial advantage (in basketball) over schools with football programs. I was making the point that the exact opposite is true. Those who can profit greatly from football can use that extra revenue to support their number 2 revenue sport, basketball.
On your note, a totally different topic… We are being outspent, period. And schools with rich donor pockets will find a way to get the money to the players they think will make their favorite college team better. I’m sure they’d prefer to do it legally, but they’ll do it regardless. Same as it ever was…
We (Nebraska) are a small state with less billionaires than most states and our donors are stupid and over prioritize women’s volleyball. We have a smaller NIL pool of $ than most states and our dumbass donors are throwing money at college volleyball like it’s strip club, while our number 2 revenue sport has NEVER won an NCAA tournament game. Our NIL priorities and strategy has been huge embarrassing failure, total and complete failure.
But hey, rich old farm widows are gonna spend their money like they didn’t do anything to make it. Cause they didn’t…
You did far less to make it, so why do you get to decide how they should spend it? You wouldnt last on a farm
You make some decent points about our need to spend more if we want better basketball results. I say all the money should go to football..but I wouldnt blame people for earmarking basketball.
But you consistently come off as a smug, unhappy and arrogant prick who sees no fault in telling other people how to spend their money and taking it personally that they dont spend their money the way you want to spend it. Maybe you should make some and do with it what you will while minding your own business.
You can express your opinion. But it takes a smug, unhappy and arrogant prick to make fun of widows and be all upset and mad because people dont spend their money the way you think they should, as though its their job to do your bidding for you. How dare they support what they like!I’m not making anyone’s decisions as to how they spend their money, and I have no way of making anyone spend their money differently. (other than voicing my opinion on the matter) Your assertions are beyond ridiculous. But I am entitled to the opinion they (big donors) spend too much money on volleyball (NIL wise) and not enough on basketball players. I’ve had this opinion for years. That’s my opinion, deal with it. Not like Mertle who inherited $30 million is gonna read this or give a shit what I think? Lol They’re gonna spend their money the way they want and I’m gonna have the opinion I want. You saying I’m not allowed to express that opinion?

Feel free to keep sharing your opinion, I will as well.
You are flying off the handle about how other people spend heir money and Im the snowflake?🤣 Make fun of widows 🤣😂🤣😂 I did nothing of the sorts. If you think saying they donate too much of their money to volleyball players is making fun of them you have to be the most sensitive snowflake out there. And the bidding is not for me you ignorant asshole. It’s for the benefit of Nebraska and the University. A successful basketball program will make five times the revenue as volleyball, but our donors prioritize volleyball. (Which is dumb for the reasons I stated) You think my opinion is just because I like basketball more than women’s volleyball? It’s the fiscally smart thing to do for our athletic department and university.
You are unfortunately so wrapped up in your feelings and wanting to hate on everything I say you can’t see the logic in my stance. And yes, you call me a smug prick, I’m gonna call you an ignorant snowflake. And rightfully so. You can’t even see why I have such an opinion, all you can do is clutch your pearls fein outrage cause I think our donors spend too much on volleyball players. Get a grip man…
You are flying off the handle about how other people spend heir money and Im the snowflake?
Why even make the farm widows comment? Why are you so concerned with other peoples spending and think you are entitled to know better than them what to do with their property? How about you donate? Perhaps some self reflection is in order.
Smug, arrogant prick. Carry on proving it
Probably won’t be much news until after the waste of time exhibition tournament. While other teams decline an invite NU pounds there chest about post season play.Still no NU portal news?
To be fair, Nebraska will still be playing after 64 teams already ended their season in the NCAA tournament so there is that. One of the last standing 😆Probably won’t be much news until after the waste of time exhibition tournament. While other teams decline an invite NU pounds there chest about post season play.
But they won’t. They’ll spend 80% of their allotted dollars on football. Zag and Villanova will have more money to spend on basketball than a P5 school.Schools like Gonzaga and most of the Big East conference will NEVER have an economic advantage over the rest of the P5 that profits from football TV contracts. It’s all about how you spend your money. Most P5 schools (with a successful football program) will have more money to spend on basketball, if they choose to spend it that way.
But they won’t. They spend 80% of their allotted dollars on football
OK, lots of numbers for other schools and Nebraska being thrown around along with percents of whatever, I have no idea. I am going to assume if there were actual numbers out there for teams, sports and individual players, we would have seen it by now. In reality, a lot is just pure speculation.
Please show me the numbers, if they exist. If we pay “too much” for VB players, what is that number at NE and other schools?
Unlike you, I dont have to be, or be related to someone in order to have decency toward them. You’re obviously a farmer and/or closely connected to someone who farms. I have nothing against farmers, I love farmers. Get out of your feelings for a minute. It’s ok to criticize how some elderly donors spend their money. You’re gonna be ok man…
3. We spend more than just anyone on volleyball. All our girls are in adds and have known or rumored NIL deals. Very lucrative deals from everything I’ve heard.
Unlike you, I dont have to be, or be related to someone in order to have decency toward them.
It seems you are fine criticizing others but cant handle it when someone criticizes you. You take how other people donate personally, as if they owe you something.
Get out of your entitlement for a moment…or keep railing on people about how to spend their money and somehow think that doesnt make you a giant dbag….
I don't know about all of this shit, I just hope we land two top-flight transfers. I'm not greedy.
