Basketball: Nebraska @ Rutgers 11:00am ESPNU

Were any of you people alive 5-10 years ago? Recent stretch is very disappointing - but state of the program is definitely at an entirely different level than it was when Miles got here. We need to find ways to avoid the bad stretches and obviously would have loved to finish out the last two games the other way but you can't throw away the progress that has been made.

No, it's not.

The talent is better. That's it.

Pretty much. What we see is what we get and I'm far from impressed with coach Miles.
Looks like our three game winning streak was just a fluke. We have now reverted to typical Miles/Nebraskaball.
Glad I did not delete all of my "Fire Miles" posts after the three game fluke thing.
Just fire him already. He has recruited better. But his teams play like shit

Lol, ESPN sent me an update on my phone saying NU won 64-63...a while later, I received an update/video saying Rutgers hit the game winner with 1.0 left. The exact same thing happened against our previous opponent...

I'm not disappointed that I gave up watching NU basketball in the least. ESPN needs to get their shit together with these false updates, though.

Unfortunately with Watson out for the season, Creighton won't be ranked that high for long

Probably won't win the Big East... But plenty of time to get stabilized for the tournament and still could be a sweet 16 team.. Losing One of the best point guards in college might have costed them a elite 8 spot.

Agreed. Tim Miles is 9-0 this year. The Nebrasketball players are 0-10.
When your senior point guard waits til 6 seconds on the shot clock then drives in to 3 defenders playing zone I don't know how that is the coach's fault. When your senior point guard (who has improved every year) drives AGAIN in to a zone then bounces it off his foot, I don't know how that is the coach's fault. We had it won. He made adjustments at half. We had a 5 point lead and Webster just lost him freaking mind.

And when you're in your 5th year at a program and likely about to go three years in a row under .500? Slice it and dice it all you want...just another loss that goes in the L column for Miles.

Really.. Believe if Miles had Mo Watson he wouldn't have lost the game for Nebraska.
You're wrong on this one.

Why is it that those things happen?

Why is it that Nebraska is # 303 in assists out of 347? Yes you have to make shots to get assists, but there has to be fluid not frantic ball movement.

Why does Nebraska under Miles constantly struggle to score against even bad teams?

How does the offense look so bad with as talented of a backcourt as we've had in years?

At sone point the HC has to point the thumb when it comes to offensive struggles.

What? Yeah and if Miles had the dream team his record would be great! Nice argument. You seem to think this is about one loss. Nope. This is about multiple losing seasons. I'll leave the excuses for Miles up to you folks as he continues to rack up L's.

Well if Miles had Michael Jordan we wouldn't be so mediocre on offense every single year. Derpy derp

I usually agree with you plenty, but not today Webster like Jok from Iowa are Terrible handling the ball...

Last two positions fall on the hands of Tai Webster... Open eyes.Eek

This would still be the result for the offense

Okay...then how many countless times has Tai bailed out Miles stagnant offense this year? Goes both ways. Again...blame whoever you want. The loss gets added to Miles dismal record.

Maybe have your team ready to play in the first half....

Besides the late turnovers, the thing that's killing NU late in the game is the inability to get to the FT line. Their last made FT today was with 9 minutes left. They attempted only one after that, when Jacobsen missed the front end of a one-and-one. Bad recipe for winning close games.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Webster was a disaster handling the ball and didn't seem to know what he was going to do so he drives into traffic way too much. What is with this dribble drive offense and no passing? Our D is horrible, teams must lick their chops when we come to town as we give up tons of open threes. We are not a very good defensive team. On the last Rutgers possession if the guard follows his man and blocks him out even a little he doesn't get that easy rebound. Webster can't guard my diseased mother, sorry. How many times did they get garbage shots down low because we couldn't get a body on anyone and get a stinking rebound. Sadly, there are glimpses that we have some talent. Horne at times looks pretty good. Basic fundamentals are killing this team and to me that is coaching. You cant ignore the Webster turnovers but it should not have come to that.

Sorry Scarlet but I am gonna have to disagree here. Sure we screwed up at the end. But that would never have happened if the game were not close. Rutgers stinks. If we had any kind of a team it should not have been that close at the end. Year five. What will everyone's excuses for Miles be in year six when this same pattern is repeated?

espn and their scorecenter app and their scoreboard in general are an embarrassment to technology and programming.

Thankfully Miles doesn't call the plays for NU to run or he'd have to take accountability for some losses.

Well if Husker fans need something to cheer them up, #7 Creighton tips off shortly on FOX.

Only reason I like to see Creighton win this year is because I trained Marcus Foster at my job last year. Kid is a very intelligent and nice kid with great supportive parents.

is there a chance that some of the toxins from the football made its way over to the basketball team and that is why Miles is actually undefeated this season?

Should Miles be fired?
That would be one of the dumbest things NU could do. Ever. We finally have a guy that can get talent to Lincoln and we're playing all freshmen and sophomores but one guy. And that one guy made the mistakes at crunch time that killed us. We have to get better but even talking about canning Miles is ludicrous.

Penny, it was close because of the first half performance coming back from 10 down.I'll Agee that they shouldn't have been in that position but they were.

I take it you did watch the game.... Huskers had things in control the last few minutes. Tai last positions with all that experience being a senior down the road was what you would expect from your senior guard and he failed miserably.... No two ways about it.. So I'll agree to disagree with you in this game not the other games you are pointing too.

Disagree. You use the talent we have to sell the next coach.

"We've got a ton of young talent in this program, coach. Have a look at the recruiting ranking on these guys. Watch some film. We have the talent in the program to be great. Check out our facilities. Top shelf. And just wait until you see the fan base. We just need to you come here at coach these men up."

If Miles is going to be back next year - and I suspect he will be - I hope the AD will make that clear to him now, so the young talent he's brought into the program will get a chance to play. It may not have changed the outcome of any of the past three losses, but I don't understand how you can lose Ed Morrow and Tschimanga's minutes do not increase at all. I get that he's a major project, but I don't see how he gets better without playing against real competition.

Roby playing 8 minutes yesterday also doesn't make much sense to me. Yes he had three turnovers in that time, but other players have stretches like that and it certainly doesn't get them benched for the rest of the day.

I agree 100%, let these players become juniors and seniors. I think the future is much better than it has been. It wasn't very long ago they looked like a high school team in terms of talent.
