Bad day coming

Who cares? Just football. If you get them, good. If you don't, eh.

Yes it does appear far too many Huskers fans lives revolve around recruiting. I`ve never understood why anyone would let the whims and decisions of a 17 year old
enter your personal lives. Sure we want great players but we have no control over it.

It's so hit or miss, its like betting on sports for an income. Most times you will be disappointed

Amen. It is almost a sport in itself to watch the meltdowns and read the posts.

Yet, here we are, spending countless hours on a football recruiting website...

It certainly gives the Pelinistas ammo to troll with though. Funny how a bunch of kids that sane people always thought were long shots to end up at NU now suddenly cause a "disaster" when they decide to go elsewhere.

Get the kids that want to come to Nebraska and coach them to be the best they can be. All you can do. This staff put in a ton of effort on a lot of kids and if it doesn't work out then it just wasn't meant to be. We'll cheer for the guys that walk out onto the field wearing the N on their helmet whether they are 1 star or 5 star.

Calvin has been predicted to NU for months.

Clouse has pimped Holmes to NU the last week or so.

Either go elsewhere and it's full on meltdown. Sarrell, Filiaga, nobody has expected their commitment.

What does the article say? Only a disaster if Calvin picks ND, as he's the only one we were supposed to get.

Edit, now I see the Crystal Ball picks for Oregon State. WTF???

Predicted and pimped aren't signed sealed and delivered. I get your point, but I never viewed those guys as likely signees. Just the way I view things (logical view IMO). When we start trying to pull guys from that far off and there's that much drama involved with them, that rarely seems to end up with them in Lincoln no matter what the recruitniks think. Now IF they had actually committed then I would be disappointed if they flipped. Disappointed but not losing my mind like some of the numbskulls on here.

i am not expecting to get very many of these recruits .. maybe one .. will be happy with 2. What I am interested in is the guys that we sign in their stead. I would expect that these recruits would have a decent amount of middle of the pack or at least lower tier power 5 school offers. I'm sorry but a predominance of non power 5 and FCS offers is a big red flag. There are no longer any off the radar recruits - if a kid is going to fresno, nevada, wyoming, etc a bunch of power 5 schools have done their due diligence and decided an offer wasn't justified.

I am no insider but I do have first hand knowledge with regards to Sarrell and I can tell you as others have that he absolutely loves Cav. I can also tell you that the chances of him committing to Nebraska have been as close to zero as it can get for months due to academics. I hope the coaches have realized for months he wasn't coming here but the recent Oline offer has me wondering if that is the case - unless we also struck out on plan B guys and have moved on to plan C.

4 CB picks (and counting) for Calvin to Oregon St this morning.

Edit: You snuck your "edit" in just as I quoted you!

You have to rely on what the kid tells you and up until this point Sarrell still hadn't ruled out NU. Apparently Cav finally decided we had to move on. Callahan got burned by a couple of guys by letting it go til signing day trying to land elusive difference makers. Sarrell is possibly a difference maker at LT. Our latest offer less likely to be a difference maker but still a potential multi year starter on our O line. That's just the way recruiting works. Call him a plan B. Call it a recruiting failure if you want. IF we get the Nebraska kid I'm good with that and after watching his HUDL film I see a lot of potential. He's clearly the best lineman on the field on either side of the ball in all of his film in Class A football.

Reminds me of the Fitzpatrick fiasco last year... but I trust dub has better back up plans this year
Honestly I don't know. Looks like Jody is USC bound and if we also miss on G. Homes, I don't know where we will turn.

Is this the part of the movie where it looks like the bad guy is gonna win? Those websites need to create some suspense for all the visitors today, don't you think?

fair enough .. but you don't have to believe what a kid is telling you
he wasn't coming to Nebraska and deep down the family has known for months

with regards to the recent oline offer .. granted he could develop and turn out great (no argument) ... but with all due respect I will take the opinion of multiple other coaches who are payed 6 figures to watch tape and decide if an offer should be extended over your eval of his HUDL film

What ever happened to
A certain recruit telling us we have several silent commits ?
No wonder some of us get our hopes up....

This. A lot of us on here have been saying now for quite some time that, realistically, the only recruit on these lists of "big fish" that we seemed to have a lock on was Calvin. Personally, I was happy if all we got was Calvin and Daniels. Now it looks like we are not getting Calvin.
So yes, as noted above, my real beef is going to be with our coaches if they do not have quality plan B guys waiting. It is all well and good to swing for the fences. But if you are a .250 batter you better have a plan to just advance guys to second with a base hit if you can't hit it out of the park.

No one is picking Oregon State over NU...it is just some smoke right now. There are about 3 places worse/harder to recruit at than Oregon State...don't fall for the crystal ball picks.

Sure I get upset for five seconds when a kid goes somewhere else. I don't get the
Meltdowns by adults when they don't come here.
You mean you don't go get your torches and pitchforks, head to Twitter and berate an 18 year old who you were pumping up just hours earlier?
