Why does it take an hour and a half between games on a field that doesn't need to be put back together?

Also, If they put diamond dry on the field, it needs some time to absorb the excess moisture.

They must want to make sure everyone plays in the rain today. It was actually really nice between the 9th inning of game two and about 20 minutes ago. Just a light drizzle now.

Purdue out of sorts to start the game.
Meyers leadoff dbl to left-ctr gap.
Next hitter fly to gap, left & ctr fielder run into each other, drop ball for another double.
Schreiber reaches 2nd on error on throw to 1st.
Miller walks(bases loaded)
Wild pitch to Alvarado, bounces hard off backstop back to catcher. Sngl to left (2-0) Huskers. Still NO OUTS.
Roskum. walks(3-0)
Pitching Change for PURDUE.

Hohensee hanging on by a thread. Just gave up another hit. 4-5, Purdue now up.

Im talking the difference between dirt & field turf. Pitchers mound & base paths are dirt.
They do have something called dust-free dirt, (so its not really dirt), but Im not sure what the official name is.

Alvarado walks to put runners on 1st & 2nd w/2 outs.
Another pitching change for Purdue.

Roskam walks. Wilkening up w/bases loaded. Strikes out. Inning over.

Never a dull moment with Hohensee on the mound. Gets out of it with no damage.

Schreiber pops out to 1st w/2on to end the inning.

Palkert on in relief for Hohensee.

I believe the whole field is turf. Including the "dirt" areas. It's probably the only reason they might get all the games in.
Looks like you were right. Kugler just said it's dirt colored field turf. How about that. Never seen that before. They must save a ton on field maintenance.

Purdue pitcher strikes out the side.
Going to top of the 8th.

Hagge robs Purdue of a 2 run homer! Leaps up at the fence to bring it back in. Great Catch.
