Can't the school just fire him and say he wasn't winning enough (like we fired Solich)? Then they don't fire him with cause and pay him less.

Of course they could, we all know how that played out. Good luck hiring a good coach if you fire a coach of a Top 25 team for "not winning enough".

What saluno said above, plus Miller's attorneys would have a damn good argument that the firing was really for cause and the school's claim that it wasn't for cause was just a poor attempt to get around the "for cause" buyout.
