Anyone see this - charges dismissed against Joseph

Just saw this. I can't say I looked into this enough to know everything, but what a wild series of events. Whatever he did or didn't do I hope if he needs help he gets it.

Also just wait till all the people who wanted his head to roll now want him. Spoiler alert, the ship, for better or worse, has sailed. (Unless he somehow becomes an analyst or something for us).

She should have thought about that much earlier. The damage has been done.
thought about what? If she was actually assaulted, you're saying she should have quickly thought, in the hysteria, "wait, I don't want to call anyone or say anything because he might not be able to pay support I want." makes sense.

Remember, the charges being dismissed doesn't mean he did it or didn't do it. It's just that there is no one to testify in this case so they basically had to dismiss the charges. Sounds like the Chris Beard situation at Texas. You have to let him go.
No, there is evidence, and they could certainly force her to testify

According to this article, she emailed the prosecutor and said that she wouldn't testify.

Here's a video of the court proceeding.

Yes, she notified the prosecutor that she wouldn't testify, so they issued an out-of-state subpoena to compel her testimony but they were unable to find her to deliver the summons (starting at :30 in the video).

She didn't want to, the prosecutor was not going to compel her to, and Joseph has suffered financial and reputational harm. It's pretty clear from the accounts that she was physically assaulted. So even though he won't face a trial on this thing, he did pay a rather steep price for his actions.

Not so. The prosecutor WAS going to compel her to testify but could not get service on her to force her to appear for the trial.

I was a prosecutor for many years. This is how way too many of these cases turn out. The victim is afraid of becoming financially destitute, and the perp has by now apologized numerous times, bought her flowers and swore it would never happen again (but it will).

In domestic assault cases, I always made sure my cops tape recorded the victim's statement as close to the event occurring as possible. Then when she inevitably starts to backtrack, she is on tape. Further, I not only had them take pictures of the injuries at the time they occurred, I had my officers go back the next day to re-photograph those injuries. Why? The bruises rise and get darker overnight. It's a better record for trial.

It is more common for victims to back out like this than to follow through. When I subpoenaed victims, they were mad at me, not the scum that beat them up. They would be hostile, but if confronted with their recorded statement and the photos of the injuries, they had to admit the assault occurred.

This is the choice the victim has made; and yes, very common.

Both have paid a high price; hope they both are receiving help to get back on track.

I remember when you were innocent until proven otherwise.

I have no idea if he did or didn’t assault his wife.

But today they just ruin your life first, then dismiss it altogether
Yes. He ain't the only one. The state should have to prove guilt, not defendant proving innocence

She found out the gravy train was gonna run out. At least 93.7 will probably put him on the radio. They have a tendency to do that with woman beating x-coaches.
