Was it 16 modified innings of greater enjoyment than the football game?

Beautiful day.

Husker fans had their phones fully charged with the Fox Sports app...
after about 15 minutes into the football game,
most had their phones off and were watching baseball.

Saw one article saying that only a 'dozen' fans there.
Wichita St had a good contingent of 50 fans alone.
Maybe 300 in attendance at any one time but,
people were shuffling in and out of the free event all day.

So the 14 inning set up...
Basically they played two 7 inning games,
with a half hour intermission in between.
And with no concession stands open...
both McDonald's at either end of Salt Valley were packed during intermission.
So I choose Popeyes if I was gonna wait.
Nice thing about no consessions...
was that you could bring your food and drink into the ballpark.
Thank goodness the restrooms were still available.
Wanted to bring my dog along but thought not to push it.

Pitchers were going about 2 innings.
Eddins started, Max Schreiber, Tillotson, Ben Klenke was pitching and got some are bats
also remember seeing Matt Waldron, Hood and Frasier.

Huskers didn't have any Home Runs. Shockers had one all day.
Unofficial scores were Huskers won both scrimmages 8-0 and 5-3.
So there was some good hits and base running all day...
plus a couple of real good defensive double plays for the boys in red.

A lot of freshman saw the field and made impressions.
#29 Cam Chick, #34 Colby Gomes, #21 Brett Hammit, #24 Aaron Palensky, #8 Shay Schanaman
sorry for leaving anyone out, especially in the Outfield I was scrambling to see numbers and going online to find the current roster.

It was an extremely relaxed event.
Fans could clearly hear the coaching staffs from both sides coaching their teams through the scrimmages.
Seeing Curtis Ledbetter coaching on the 1st base line was pretty cool.
Coach Erstad forgot his sunscreen and was about as sunburnt has his red Husker shirt by the end of the day.

Looking forward to the Oct 6th scrimmage vs Kansas.
Plus don't forget the Fall Red/White games are also around the corner.
