Another Kentucky WR is N

Except that we all had the opposite feeling about our last WR coach and have all taken a collective sigh of relief... so again, how is Sat going to help these guys grow into elite players?
Find Satt another job and move Mozee into the TE role.

Edit: and give him a huge buyout. Much bigger than Shorts had at Kentucky. Lol

Has Mozee ever coached TEs? Honestly with Dana as the OC, I think a trained monkey could coach TEs. Dana has gotten the most out of our TEs I’ve seen for quite a while. I get the mistrust of Satt, but he’s much more qualified to coach our TEs versus being an OC. Our TEs have looked pretty damned good these last few games.

We will see what happens .Rhule said Dana liked Satt at TE. It’s Dana’s call on offense. But Satt will have to negotiate a new contract to be TE coach. His wife and kids have moved back to SC .

^^^^^^^^^^ As long as DH is telling him this is what I want the TEs to do we'll be fine. They've been used smarter and blocked better

I would bet Satt will try to find something on the east coast. I doubt he would just walk without getting a check for the rest of his contract. Not sure how old his kids are but if they’re school age, we’ve seen how cruel some other kids can be to disfavored coach’s kids. There were some awful things said to Cosgrove’s kid.

IF I were him I would take a reduced settlement to get the hell out of town. I doubt Rhule would fire him but maybe he would be doing him a favor to do that financially. I can’t imagine him landing another OC job at a P4 school.

Nothing to do with Satt. Mozee is a heck of a recruiter and we need to figure out a path to locking him down. Rhule has traditionally used the TE coach as a role for former hs coaches that are good recruiters to break into cfb. That is Mozee. He's a former D1 rb, hs OC, hs HC. This makes the most sense.

If he leaves we will pay him the 1.4 million we owe him. And we should pay him that’s his contract

He's a perfectly fine TE coach and we are already paying him. If he takes another job, he resigns and NU is off the hook. But if I'm Satt, I'll stick around, coach a nice TE room and get a sweet payday.

I hope we give him the Associate Head Coach gig when Snow leaves.

Brock Bowers was 6' 3" 243 at the combine. So that is dead accurate. Nelson is listed at 6'5 230. Not big enough to handle big 10 DE's. I hate bulking up guys and then having them lose all their speed.
Brock Bowers- Raiders roster. Brock is having a pro bowl season. Same size as Nelson and doing it against grown ass men, not college kids.

When would Carter ever be lined up with a Big 10 defensive end? There are a lot of places for Nelson to line up if Dana went 12 or 13 personnel, but attached next to the tackle with sole responsibility to block a defensive lineman in a C gap or head up isn't one of them. Carter is a move tight end. Go back and watch Haarberg against BC. HH is about the same size as Carter and people are raving about HH's blocking. Carter will play the same position and will do just fine.

I don't believe any height/weight in sports that isn't a combine. Nelson is obviously really young, but looks like a high metabolism, skinnier kid. Haarberg actually looks like he could carry some extra weight really well.

Looks like you are basically wanting him as a hybrid TE rather than a traditional TE. Sounds good to me. Just don't bulk him up too much and sacrifice what made him special in the first place.

I wonder if the Rhule will redshirt Nelson next season, given that Haarberg is now in that room. When you look at it, Fidone is a standard pass catching TE, Lindenmeyer is a straight up mauler, and Haarberg is sort of a guy Holgerson can move around. Let Nelson recover from the surgical work and build some strength, then have him available for four conference games plus bowl season. There is a lot of talent in that room without Nelson. And there will be a lot of demand for a pass catching in the wide receivers room.

Yes. TE could be looked at as two different positions. Attached or inline TE and move TE (aka hybrid, H back). Take a look at NE tight ends on our roster and we’ve got half that can do one and half the other. We’ll see, but in any case Nelson won’t be ready to be an inline blocking TE coming off surgery next year and he probably never will be used in that role.
