Thought I'd give a quick scan of former Husker coaches to see how they're performing with their new schools.

Frank Solich, Head Coach, Ohio

Ohio University is 7-3 currently, nearly a lock to win their division and play for the conference championship. Ohio hasn't had a losing record since 2008. Not too shabby considering they were bottom of the conference historically before Solich's arrival.

Craig Bohl, Head Coach, Wyoming

Wyoming is an impressive 6-2 with a loss to Nebraska and coming off of a narrow win over previously ranked 13 Boise State. They lead the MW Mountain Division with a 4-0 conference record and hold the tie-breaker over Boise State. An impressive turnaround from last season so far.

Turner Gill, Head Coach, Liberty

Liberty is currently 5-3 overall and undefeated in the Big South conference. I don't have much more context here as Liberty doesn't get a lot of coverage, but a decent year for former player and coach Gill.

Bo Pelini, Head Coach, Youngstown State

Youngstown is currently 6-2 including a 17 point loss to West Virginia. They are currently tied for first in the MVFC conference with North Dakota State. This is an improvement over last season when the Penguins finished the season 5-6.

(Edit: Including Scott Frost, though not a former coach, is leading a program as their head coach.)

Scott Frost, Head Coach, University of Central Florida

UCF is sitting at .500 with a 4-4 record, currently in 3rd place in the American Athletic East division. This includes close losses to Houston and Temple and a 2OT loss to Maryland. Considering UCF was 0-12 last season, I'd say this is a very impressive start to Scott Frost's head coaching career.

I could go further to include former coaches who are currently assistants (Tim Beck, Bill Callahan, Barney Cotton, etc.,) but that would require too much work.

I really don't have commentary to any of this but was just curious to hear how former Husker coaches were doing and looked them up in case someone else was also.

Craig Bohl is an impressive head coach. He built a machine at NDSU and has Wyoming trending up fast. I wonder if a big time P5 school will take a shot on him in the near future.

Beck is hurting OSU as their QB coach.

former Husker def back coach and recruiting guru Bill Busch is the def backs coach at Rutgers

beloved former Husker Phil Elmassian after serving as defensive coordinator at Ferrum in 2014 is now an assistant on a sports talk show in Virginia

"I wonder if a big time P5 school will take a shot on him in the near future." Does that make Wyoming a P4 school?

To give a serious answer to a smart ass question:

Wyoming is not in one of the Power Five (P5) Conferences with New Years Six Bowl Game tie-in's (ACC, SEC B1G, Big 12, Pac 12) So they would be considered a Group of of Five (G5) school.

Thread title should include former players now coaching.
Why no Callahan update?

Man, how many schools did Elmo end up coaching for? About 12? That guy has probably seen almost every stadium in D1

Bill Callahan, Washington Redskins (NFL), Offensive Line Coach

Bill Callahan has been in the NFL ever since he was relieved of his duties as a Nebraska head football coach. His contract with the Dallas cowboys expired after the 2015 season and it was not renewed. He joined the Washington Redskins as their offensive line coach. The Redskins are 4-3-1 so far this season. They are also 3rd in total offensive yardage in the NFL, and 14th in rushing yards per game.

Expect Peelini will lose in Fargo tomorrow....

Maybe him and brother Carl will have another melt down like in last years No. Dakota St game.

Considering NDSU lost a close one their last home game, I'd expect them to break out a can of whoop ass on the Penguins. 2:30 pm on ESPN3 online.

Beck is hurting OSU as their QB coach.
I wonder if Urban has shown Beck any drills to improve ball security? Since nobody knows of any... maybe Urban the brilliant has magically invented one.

He knows the best drills and has the best ideas. And he's going to win so much, you'll get tired of it.
