He had a very good year but he looked downright awful at times

I’ll agree not all of it was on him (OC, line, WRs) but I just don’t see a great QB right now

The 2 slides in the 4q yesterday were really dumb
1 late just asking for an injury
1 early when we need a first down to ice the game

I will say that this was the first season in a long time that 3rd and long didn’t seem like an impossible task.

How do you feel about becoming the 51st state?

He will play in the NfL. Lots of talent. He didn’t have as good of a frosh year as Martinez but I think he will be one of the top QBs in the country over the next couple of years. Assuming - the OL can block for him.

The sliding? I blame that a bit on the coaches. That last slide (he could have gotten another 4-5 yards) could have cost us the game as it made it 4th down. He needs to know where the marker is and in certain situations (his last slide) he needs to be physical and get as many yards as he can. There are times that he shouldn’t slide at all IMO.

Odd that the OP take is so ignored. I might be missing who it is (maybe he/she deserves it.) To me DR still looks like a supremely talented kid who underperformed his own expectations. 13 tds certainly wasn't the goal. He will be better next year. We went from needing a qb to not lose games (he didnt) to needing the next step where they win games. He will.

I get upset a lot with the mistakes, and his over celebration is annoying. However, I can't help but agree with some other posters. He has a high ceiling, and he's a kid. Very green right now. I'd like to see him get in better football shape and put some zip on the ball, but I have a feeling he'll have an extremely productive offseason. You just don't learn unless you screw up sometimes. Even Tommie Frazier had an Iowa State game on a team that was far more talented in 1992 than this team was in 2024. I'm not saying, "be patient," because the patience bullshit has warn off since I've been attending games (1999). I am saying expect him to work like hell this offseason. He seems like he wants to be great.

I agree on having some concerns about Raiola. I firmly believe that we may have had the same record or maybe even win an extra game this past year if Haarberg had made the starts. But half the team would have transferred after the season. This team NEEDS Raiola to be the man since he is such a driving force in recruiting. We have to ignore the red flags and get on board and hope he takes us back to the promised land because we may not get another shot to become relevant again. So go Raiola!!! (Also remember to keep anxiety scrips full)

He has room for improvement yes. Only time will tell how well he improves. Everyone that knows him says he is very advanced with his football knowledge. One thing I say he can do better is with pass placement. Make it easier on receivers to make a catch. Yes it falls on the receivers to grab the ball but if some of the passes were placed a little better it wouldn’t take superb play to catch it.

A-Mart didn’t have to deal with Satterfield ran offense. AMart had a pretty solid supporting cast too. Stanley Morgan and Stoll still hanging around in the NFL. Oz played a while in the NFL. Dylan needs weapons.

Also AM didn’t go bowling. DR did. So there’s that

If Haarberg starts, Holgorsen is not here now, and probably several new players that were here this season are also not in Lincoln. You want to throw like we did this season with Haarberg? I wouldn't. Or run more like last year where is lasted about half the season?

He exceeded my expectations. He was a freshman who was asked to be the focal point of a BIG offense. Had he gone to Ohio St or Georgia he would be protected by NFL talent, handing it off to a future NFL back and throwing to multiple NFL receivers. The more he plays the more he will elevate the talent around him. We have issues on offense but DR isn’t one of them.

Did Kong get suspended and start a new account? 😜

I like DR and I am not an expert but have watched alot of football. I think he has a good feel for the game and does not panic. Good but not great arm. VERY accurate in the short game and has a very high completion rate overall which keeps drives going.

I think his lack of speed and mobility is a detriment. I also think that he does not have a rocket arm and relies on touch too much. He reminds me of Tua in the passing game with less mobility. I do not think he has starting QB NFL ability. But he is MUCH better than what we have had.

I really like what I saw in Rocco Becht at ISU. That is the type of QB that I want and I think he is better than DR. DR needs to go home and lose 15 lbs of fat and get quicker and meaner. That is all... :)

these are basically my exact thoughts

and we didn't give DR any help at all for much of the season

DR had a much better defense to be able to lean back on and pull out wins.

I think the majority of his problem is now at Texas tech. I’ll be anxious to see how he does when there’s a new receiver coach on the team.

Becht is a third year guy with two years as a starter. When he was Raiola age, he played mop up duty in 2 games.

Agreed, and he should have been on the bench this year. 5 losses where a more seasoned QB should have and probably would have made the difference. Which is exactly why you don't let true freshman QBs call the shots in the first place. I really don't get why people are so enamored by him. This type of season by any other QB in our history would have been called a failure.

Dana pretty much called Dylan fat. He’s gonna get that boy in shape this offseason
This will help a lot.

My least favorite thing about Raiola being our QB is how annoying our fans are about him. He literally can’t win.
People said he doesn’t care and had no emotion and then they get upset when he’s passionate or celebrates lol
