I had a slow Saturday night and decided to stay up really late to watch for like the umpteenth time "the U" parts 1 and 2 back-to-back. We (Nebraska) really blew a chance to win the D1 national football title in 1983! It is clear from watching replays over and over from that game that our defense was not good against a pro-style offense. However, they had a freshman quarterback, Bernie Kosar, and we applied really no pressure on him the entire game and the game was in Miami, FL at their home field. I watched that game live at the time and I thought we missed 2 field goals in that game too. I also thought we had several turnovers. It is sad in that winning that game was very doable and it would have tremendously helped our recruiting and national exposure. Also, we had several 1st round players on that team.
