I may be out of the loop, but does anyone find it funny that all of our top recruits are dropping down the charts

Our highest rated recruit now is number 161 and that is Avery Roberts

Next is...

Gebbia - 191
McQuitty - 293
Johnson Jr.- 294

That is our top 4 recruits according to the site, that is not very good. Johnson Jr. was in the 200 range or am I wrong, and Gebbia was in the Top 100 or close to it? What happened here?

I don't think anything really happened but sometimes kids are just not as awesome as originally thought. But those rankings are still really good.

Is it?

Point System I will use...

High School

1-10 = 100
11-20 = 99
21-30 = 98
31-40 = 97
41-50 = 96
ect...

Juco

1 = 100
2 = 99
3 = 98
4 = 97
5 = 96

ect...

NR = 1 point by default

I am going to compare 4 schools to Nebraska's recruiting class according to 247 Composite

() = Amount of players in this range
* = Juco

Alabama

1-10 (2) = 200
31-40 (2) = 194
61-70 (1) = 94
81-90 (1) = 92
151-160 (1) = 85
161-170 (1) = 84
171-180 (2) = 166
181-190 (1) = 82
271-280 (1) = 73
331-340 (1) = 67
381-390 (1) = 62
521-530 (1) = 48
* 1 = 100
* 3 = 98
* 9 = 92
N/A (1)= 1

Total Players = 19
Total Points = 1538

Ohio St.

1-10 (1) = 100
11-20 (3) = 297
21-30 (2) = 196
31-40 (1) = 97
41-50 (1) = 96
51-60 (1) = 95
61-70 (1) = 94
71-80 (1) = 93

Iowa

21-30 (1) = 98
101-110 (1) = 90

281-290 (1) = 72
301-310 (1) = 70
351-360 (1) = 65
521-530 (1) = 48
641-650 (1) = 36
671-680 (1) = 33
781-790 (1) = 22

731-740 (1) = 27
741-750 (1) = 26
971-980 (2) = 6
N/A (2) = 2

Total Players = 14
Total Points = 574

So basically what I am trying to prove here is that as good as the recruiting has seemed, it is still middle of the road until we start landing the Joseph Lewis/Darnay Holmes type players. KW may have been talking a lot of trash to Zach Smith... well Smith and Ohio State are whooping us on the recruiting front

We look a hell of a lot closer to an Iowa or Maryland in recruiting then we do an Ohio State or Alabama.

That is fine that we aren't recruiting at the level of Ohio St. or Alabama, but if Alabama and Ohio St. are sitting at 1,500-1,600 and Maryland and Iowa are sitting at 500-600. I think in order for us to say Nebraska is doing well in recruiting we need to be closer to that 1,100-1,200 range, and not on par with the Iowa's and Maryland's of the world

So to wrap up this Short Story, I know that the recruiting season has a long way to go, but we need to start landing some of these big names or the recruiting will be no better then it was the last 14 years.

Gebbia (96) and Roberts (80) are both Top 100 recruits in the Rivals rankings. Plus, this seems like an odd time to worry about recruiting. We are about to have our biggest recruiting weekend in 15 years this weekend. We will have more Top 100 visitors this weekend than we have had in any single SEASON the since 2006.
