It's curios how LITTLE anyone is talking about the upcoming season - especially with the sobering news about no Spring Game. From what I can see, Rhule has:
But pick your poison. We've got a returning starter at QB, depth at every position (yes even RB where we lost some key players in Rahmir Johnson, Gabe Ervin, and Donte Dowdell), but we've got a team for maybe the first time in a decade. A team where I'm struggling to see a real weakness. This even after we lost some key guys at TE (Fidone and Boerkircher).
I'm just curious what the prognosticators on the Insider's Board think about our chances to win 8-9-10 games this year. Are we doomed to another year of mediocrity and 3-6 in the Big 10? Or can we finally swing it to 6-3 and 9-3 overall?
I've been doused in pessimism after the repeated failings of previous years and the mounting close losses - what is it now? 8-34 in one score games? I cannot find the stat. But I'd say at least a third of those change with good special teams. Another 3-6 with better QB and WR play. Honestly, the overall defensive scheme and play is what I question the most, with the change from Tony White to John Butler.
Thoughts appreciated. Just tired of all the Superbowl posts, questions about movies and traveling, and sports show wannabes throwing out their 2 cents on everything but Bugeater football.
- Added depth to the offensive line that will play this year
- Added back players on the defensive line
- Stacked the LB corps
- Created a solid WR room
- Added a REAL Special Teams coach in Mike Ekeler
- Gotten a Top 10 Portal class (i.e. impact players for the "now")
- Gotten another Top 25 freshman class
