2024 CFB Win Totals

Exactly how does this work? You bet $100 and they win 7 you win $154?

I never have gambled.
Simplest way to learn...

Anything that is - means you need to bet that to make $100. Ex. you bet the over at -154, you need to bet $154 to make $100.

Anything + you get that amount on a $100 bet, Ex. you bet the under at +126, you get $126 on a $100 bet.

Just looking at their schedule, the game @ Nebraska could be the swing game for them going over or under.

I see likely losses to:

Alabama
@USC
Penn State
Oregon
@ Iowa
Just came back to post this. I’m on board with Nebraska winning more than Wisconsin not being long odds.

Plus you pay 10% of wager regardless?
No

The minus number above 100 is the vig, plus numbers are not taxed

Typical straight bets are listed as -110 both sides, which I imagine is the source of your 10%

Example:

NU -3 (-110)
Opponent +3 (-110)

Or if you want to eschew the spread and bet straight, that same game might list:

NU -150
Opponent +135

Don't start, fools game. By reading individual posts on here you'd think people are raking in the winnings. They aren't. People like to brag in a 'look how smart I am' kind of way but they are either lying to you, to themselves, or both.
All organized gambling is based on the premise of the house holding the odds. They WILL be profitable.
I am still amazed by the number of people who foolishly believe that Vegas 'knows something' and base their odds on this mysterious knowledge. And the kicker is, it's these same people who gamble the most. If they believe it, why would they gamble against these wizards.
And the Hometown U. gamblers are the easiest money.

How does Ioway always get breaks when it comes to scheduling?
I know it’s after the fact when it was announced but getting both teams from the west coast that have new Head Coaches…
Actually I think the new b1g schedules look fair going forward. Iowa doesn't have the cakewalk schedule of the past

They are going to be so strange with some teams having multiple protected rivalries and some with one or none.

Literally everyone knows this.

99% of people that gamble do it for fun. They know the odds are against them, just like most things in life.

The odds are against you when you go talk to a hot piece of ass but you still do it. The odds are against you when you apply for a job but you still do it.

For every "So, I knew a guy and he gambled it all away" story...there are 10,000 "Yeah, I make a few 10 dollar wagers each Saturday" stories.

They aren't doing it for fun, they really think they have an edge.

I lost $100 the first time I gambled. I spent $20k trying to get it back 😬

There were plenty of posters who showed their picks prior to the games starting and we could see how they did during the day with all the games. I am not gambler but do like to see how people do each week. It’s one of my favorite topics during season.

There was one of the bowl games BTF69 called to a T which was fun to see play out. This is certainly not a billboard for gambling but I see the entertainment in it. Just prefer not do it myself.

Ugggg!

Really?

Which game??

Maybe the Oregon bowl game - did they play Liberty? You said Liberty would come out guns blazing and keep it close in the first half (think you bet Liberty in the first half) and then you said they would get smoked in the 2nd.

That and Kong’s overall record for bowls were very entertaining.

Oh yeah! I did say that!!!!

I think I even "won" Liberty 1st Q because of that.

Please, trust me (and my bookie), that is all talk, I am usually always wrong.

The legal sportsbook industry in the U.S. made over 4.3 billion dollars last year. In any statistic group there will be outliers. Someone will hit on the slot machines although they are programmed to profit.

I’ve seen what gambling can do to families when it’s not just for entertainment. It’s extremely sad and devastating. However grouping every gambler into this group is different. I can’t remember what Kong said he bet on games. He probably had less than $500 a week in action. I would wager Kong makes north of $300k a year. Not a big deal for entertainment and he’s likely just putting his winnings back in action and not actually footing $500 a week out of his regular earnings.

If a family is tight on money and you aren’t saving for retirement or college for your kids you shouldn’t be gambling.

Is Kong a doctor, are you his accountant?
