The original premise was that coaches cannot create attention to detail without true competition. The idea that coaches caring more about detail transfers to the team is the same bullshit Moos and Frost told about how the Frosty teams would turn around quick because they clean up the plane and clean up the locker room and take care of the small things. That is just bullshit that attempts to justify the massive price tags of these con-artists. Rhule's job #1 is to recruit a deep team with NFL talent at every level and then hold guys accountable, which is easy when you have talent at every level.
Weren't you the guy who was having a mental breakdown because our division is so weak? It is so bad because of terrible recruiting, lack of depth, and no accountability to poor play. There is an appearance then that coaches pick favorites but in reality the back up and 3rd string are just awful, which happens when recruiting classes are full of reaches. Which explains the big 10 west.
I am just amazed that the old guys on here think major college football is still some sort of military role-play where grit, perseverance, focus are the keys to winning. Sure...in a high school conference where the kids are all the same then a coach makes a difference but in an unequal league of 120 teams where teams stockpile players...you have to have your fastest, strongest, best football players on the field...regardless of the soft skills.
