I was pretty vague in my post… Wasn’t referring to you. Apologies…I never said he would run off everyone who isnt a starter. Try to follow.

So you could say NIL is OnlyFansNIL is funded by fans, not schools, though schools should support the nil and encourage donations (which I think is where we could do better)
Ty was a walkon. Two spots open. Need several more. Wish them well but we shouldn't miss either.
Holla
Ty was a walkon.
Wasn’t on the scholarship roster. Maybe he got a little NIL love. Some kids just have the itch to farm.I thought he was a walk on for two years and then a ship guy? Didn't the previous staff say he would be a ship after the first two years? Maybe I'm remembering wrong ..I'm old now 😂
Holla
Hmm did I miss this???
If Rhule is over on scholarships and nobody wants to move on Rhule will HAVE TO process some guys out.Correct. A good example is Sims.
He said that he wouldn’t process players. He did say he would tell players the truth. He said he would tell A player if he would never start here, Then it was up to the player if he wanted to go somewhere else and start. He also said it was important for him to be the same guy now as he told the parents he was when he was recruiting their kids.Oh ok.
I wont take rhule at what he said then.
And we want every kid who isnt going to start to move on?
Im fine with processing kids. Rhule said he wasnt going to do that, though.
He said he would tell them if they will start or not.
I think thats nuts. Obviously some starters who are coming back are shoe-ins. But theres open positions and some lackluster play. We were 5-7. Starting roles better not be set everywhere.
But please let me know when we are supposed to take rhule at his word and when we arent.
Perhaps I misread what he said or missed something. You seem to know more that I cant find.He said that he wouldn’t process players. He did say he would tell players the truth. He said he would tell A player if he would never start here, Then it was up to the player if he wanted to go somewhere else and start. He also said it was important for him to be the same guy now as he told the parents he was when he was recruiting their kids.
Maybe you can help me figure out how this is bad?
Its from his latest press conference-that is the way I remember it. I think it’s on YouTubePerhaps I misread what he said or missed something. You seem to know more that I cant find.
According to the source, He said he would tell players whether they would start or not. “Will tell players if they are going to start or not”.
Do I have that wrong? My response is based on whether the above is correct or not.
What is? Im asking if what I posted above, and what is in this thread as what he said, is accurate. Its from his latest press conference-that is the way I remember it. I think it’s on YouTube
Never saw the press conference, so can’t answer that. But I think this is where common sense says that he doesn’t know who will start next year or not. You could say he could have been more clear, and maybe so. But there is no way he knows today who the starters next year will be. I do think he has a pretty good idea who some of the non-contributors likely are. What is? Im asking if what I posted above, and what is in this thread as what he said, is accurate.
You seem to insinuate more was said.
So I ask you again, is this accurate or not: “will tell players whether they will start or not”?
You seem to indicate there was more, or are you just making assumptions? I dont want to answer your question until I know I’m right about what was said.
It's pretty simple. He knows who will never start or be a major contributor. Therefore he knows who will start or be a major contributor. He tells each player where they fit. They decide what to do with the information. This isn't that hard to figure out.
The poster asked what the problem could be with the statement. Then the poster went on to insinuate that more was said than I had realized. Im guessing that was just assumptions, as is what you and others are saying.Never saw the press conference, so can’t answer that. Fair enough. IF that’s absolutely what Rhule is doing behind closed doors in individual player meetings, I agree. The poster asked what the problem could be with the statement. Then the poster went on to insinuate that more was said than I had realized. Im guessing that was just assumptions, as is what you and others are saying.
Rhule did NOT say he will tell guys who will never start theyll never start.(even then thats kinda bs).
It says he said “whether they will start or not.” If thats true, its a problem to already know your starters coming off a five win season.
Im going by what was reported. If rhule is telling guys they are starting or not starting next year its not good, period.
I Know what your assumptions are so no need to say it again.
It’s semantics. I guess I think I know what he meant but you’re right he could have stated that better. As much time as he gives to the media it’s inevitable that he’s not always going to express his thoughts clearly. The poster asked what the problem could be with the statement. Meh. Mountain out of molehill IMO.Freudian slip?
I dont give someone who trotted out sims multiple times, along with inferior o linemen, the benefit of the doubt.
I have no issue if he is telling 10 or so guys theyll never see the field (including sims). In fact I’d applaud that. But thats not what he said, not even close.
I think it was this press conference: Like I said that is how I remember he said it. I felt guilty spending the time listening the the first time, if you want to listen through and verify what he said that’s fine. I have a job.The poster asked what the problem could be with the statement. Then the poster went on to insinuate that more was said than I had realized. Then dont act all butthurt that I disagreed with what he said.I think it was this press conference: Like I said that is how I remember he said it. I felt guilty spending the time listening the the first time, if you want to listen through and verify what he said that’s fine. I have a job.
I guess I don’t think people are butthurt that you disagreed, just surprised that you actually believe he has made up his mind about next year’s starters already. Then dont act all butthurt that I disagreed with what he said.
Haha geezus. So emotionalFreudian slip?

I think he knows what he is doing, and tries to be fair to the players in terms of what he thinks their prospects are. Then dont act all butthurt that I disagreed with what he said.
Of. course anyone who posts any criticisms of rhule and our 5-7 season is an Iowa fan who lives in his mothers basement.I think he knows what he is doing, and tries to be fair to the players in terms of what he thinks their prospects are.
Not “butthurt” at all if I understand what that term means. I try not to take differences of opinions personally on an anonymous message board. It’s hard to take things personally when the other poster could be a Rhodes scholar, or someone posting from his mothers basement in Iowa City.
If you take Rhule at his word here, you need to take Rhule at his word, 100% of the time. You can’t pick and choose whether he’s being literal or not. So am I correct in assuming that you believe Rhule in what he says 100% of the time?Of. course anyone who posts any criticisms of rhule and our 5-7 season is an Iowa fan who lives in his mothers basement.
Much easier to say that as a defense mechanism than address the points brought up.
Geez. I thought his eligibility was up.Well I guess a spot open up
Tim, as I said in my earlier posts, it is the rhule brigade who cant decide if rhule means what he says or not, first its “oh its so great to have a coach who says what he means and doesnt use coachspeak” to “its just coachspeak”.If you take Rhule at his word here, you need to take Rhule at his word, 100% of the time. You make a legitimate argument, but so do others. Is yours the only argument that matters?
I know you aren’t an Iowa fan, and would never presume that. We’ve had our back and forth in the past, I hear you.Tim, as I said in my earlier posts, it is the rhule brigade who cant decide if rhule means what he says or not, first its “oh its so great to have a coach who says what he means and doesnt use coachspeak” to “its just coachspeak”.
So spare me.
Furthermore, the post you quoted wasnt so much about what rhule said. Its a general statement. On this board if you criticize rhule youre an iowa fan living in his moms basement. Defense mechanism for people too scared to look the truth in the face. Same crap with riley and frost,
Bottom line is this: year one for rhule was a failure, plain and simple.
I had em at 6 wins. One less turnover and this year would have been a smashing success🥴Tim, as I said in my earlier posts, it is the rhule brigade who cant decide if rhule means what he says or not, first its “oh its so great to have a coach who says what he means and doesnt use coachspeak” to “its just coachspeak”.

Year one was a failure. 5-3 to 5-7 was terrible.
When Rhule came out and told it like it was, it was refreshing. But that doesn’t mean he will always and forever never use coach speak.
So why hold the Rhule brigade to a standard that is always going to be a moving target?
Standards or expectations? People expecting regular 10 win seasons aren’t being realistic. Nobody is going to be happy with anything less than 8-9.I agree.
I get why people are part of the rhule brigade, and I dont want to sound like all is lost. But criticism is warranted. Standards are dropping fast again.
I would hope someone in Sims' life or coaching tree would sit him down and have a long talk about his career.Correct. A good example is Sims.
