1-2-3 for the Skers again.
Batting with RISP:
Is that the last three weeks in a nutshell or what?
Hm, yeah, fortunately for the bats Waldron is keeping it close. 2 or 3 runs might be enough. Of course, none of this will fly when ASU and Michigan come to town but whatever :|
One out single otherwise Waldron closes the door on the 4th.
Greg saying "that's what the sport will do to you", in re: Nebraska's bad offense. At what point do you acknowledge that it's not "the game's" f***ing fault?
Another 1-2-3 for Nebraska.
1-0 bad guys still
"This game is just cruel." McLaughlin and Sharpe are in fine form today. Time to blame the fans that are frustrated.
Oh, but we've been told many times how frustrated the players are. Great! They see that there is a problem! How about figuring out a way to solve it?
How come everyone else can score plenty of runs with 2 outs against us but we can’t return the favor..
Sounds like my least favorite Erstad excuse for what goes wrong: "That's baseball".
There’s a lot of baseball left to be played but it’s obvious this team is pressing because nothing is going right. And that tends to snowball.
A one out double puts a runner on 2nd and a groundout advances the runner to 3rd.
RBI single brings a runner home.
RBI double scores another.
Fly out ends the damage.
Yep, you could sense that early on in the game after we loaded the bases. Luck is not a great strategy is all I know.
Erstad's inability to actually translate the "day by day" approach in a meaningful way that his team can apply. If that were easy, everybody would do it. I'm sure he's tried his hardest, but his teams are usually pretty mentally fragile, especially, and specifically at the plate.
Not that I've thrown in the towel yet...
But I am looking into those Yoga classes
Northwestern playing with matches again here.
And the bats extinguish themselves again :|
Now 0-5. A double play delayed the opportunity to get to 0-6.
I believe Northwestern is 3-4.
Leadoff single by Palensky.
Walk by Acker.
Fly out to RF by Roseberry.
6-4-3 DP ends the top half.
1-2-3 for Waldron.
1-2-3 for he Husker bats once again.
Pitcher comes into the game with a 5.77 ERA, and he shuts us out through 7. As bad as the hitting has been, it just got worse.
We can't buy a hit, and a .200 hitter with no HRs just hits one out. Yep, that's how bad it is.
I really hate that the game of baseball just gave up a home run against a .200 hitter with no home runs.
Sorry for beating a dead horse
2 out HR gives Northwestern a 4-0 lead.
Another 1-2-3 inning.
Max Schreiber now in to pitch as he delivers a 1-2-3 inning.
One more time, Northwestern spotting us baserunners.
Leadoff walk for Acker
A single by Cam Chick puts runners on 1st and 2nd.
Mojo with an RBI double puts runners on 2nd and 3rd!
Henwood lines out to LF on what would have been a base clearing double if hit in a gap.
A WP scores a run and puts another runner on 3rd!
Roskam K’s for out #2.
Gunner K’s to end the game.
4-2 Huskers lose
Finished 1-8 RISP.
I think Northwestern ended 3-4.
Well, that's baseball...
It’s clear by now nobody knows what to do to shake this offensive funk. Slumps and hot streaks come and go but after 14 games of low output we can’t continue to chalk it up to bad luck or the ups and downs of the game. I’m at a loss.
This team is close to playing themselves out of a regional, which really would be fitting because this is not a regional-type team right now.
Was thinking along the same thoughts...
It's funny how it goes from hosting a regional one week,
to not making a regional the next.
Let's see... Google search for sticking both feet in your mouth
Huh, no tweets from Callahan today about fans coming "unglued" after "a single baseball loss" like last week against Illinois?
This rotation (specifically Waldron) is good enough to beat just about anyone, but they have so much extra pressure put on them when they know they have to be nearly perfect for 9 innings so the offense can string together 4 infield singles or hopefully scratch out an unearned run.
At least we haven't been losing in walkoff fashion lately, right?
Now it all makes sense.
