It’s becoming clear that we are likely on our way towards hiring another head coach. Given where we are at as a program right now, what are your expectations for the HC/Nebraska football going forward?
Mine are as follows:
-Compete for the West almost every year.
-Win the West 2 out of every 5 years.
-Far less frequent blowout (20+ points) losses (1 every 2 years)
-Only 1-2 “down” years out of every 10 seasons (7 or fewer wins).
-Win a conference championship at some point during their tenure.
Some of these standards may seem low, but I feel they are realistic given where we’re at and the current state of CFB. All programs, outside of your elite teams like Bama, Clemson, OSU, experience blowouts from time to time (i.e., FSU last year, Michigan & USC yesterday) and go through down years for a variety of reasons (i.e., Oregon, MSU, ND last year, FSU this year).
Whoever is leading our team going forward, I feel if they can achieve those standards I would be happy with them remaining our coach.
What say you? What will you consider “success” for our Huskers going forward?
