@CodyHusker
Thanks for the suggestions on our trip to Cody/Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. It was a pretty quick trip, lots of driving. We arrived in Cody July 4th, ate at Bubba's and went downtown for the gunfight, but for some reason it didn't take place? The street wasn't blocked off and the Irma Hotel had live music out on their 'deck'. We went back to our hotel and had a couple of drinks and waited for the fireworks. We waited from about 9:30pm - 10:30pm and they didn't start. All of the locals that were parked just West of our hotel started to head home and we headed back to our room. About 11pm we started hearing the 'booms' of the artillery shells, luckily my granddaughter hadn't fallen asleep yet and we were able to get outside into a good location to watch almost all of the show. The fireworks were good and amusingly caused a small brush fire. We left for Yellowstone the next morning and took Chief Joseph highway, at your suggestion, and it was absolutely beautiful, thanks so much for all of the Cody suggestions.
The traffic in the parks wasn't bad, I expected much worse. Got a few looks at some elk, pronghorn, buffalo and deer. Didn't see any moose nor bear this trip. I have always loved the Tetons, amazing to see those rugged mountains rise up from the valley with no real foothills leading to them. Absolutely stunning. We were able to get some very good photos and my granddaughter absolutely loved the trip, even with all of the driving.
Thanks again for all of your suggestions.
