Rockies are spending big on the bullpen - something that they started doing last year. They also re-signed Jake McGee and signed Bryan Shaw. It may or may not work out, but it's refreshing change from the days when Dan O'Dowd would go dumpster diving for any over-the-hill relief arm or failed former starter that he could sign on the cheap.

Yeah the humidor at least allows pitchers to get a proper grip on the ball, but it's still a tough place to pitch. Coors doesn't really give up as many HRs as people think, but the outfield is so enormous that a more double bloopers and humpbacked liners drop in for base hits.

And that's another good reason to invest in your bullpen. Because even if your starting rotation is pretty good, there's no way the starters will get as deep into games as they would pitching in a neutral park.
